    2011 touchscreen stopped working

Been digging around on this forum and Google, but I'm mostly finding other Toyotas with this issue, not 4runners. My 2011 JBL nav headunit touchscreen has stopped working. The headunit otherwise works fine. The physical buttons work, the screen works, but not the *touch* part. There are a...

    Canvasback Cargo Liner

It really depends on what you have back there, but I'd say the Canvasback material is maybe a bit more slippery than the factory carpet. My dogs certainly slide around on the Canvasback a lot more than they slide on the factory carpet. :)

    Aftermarket Stereo

On their website I see that they have two models. One is 8.25" deep, and the other is 7.25" deep. The deeper model looks to have slightly better external connectivity, such as USB 3.0, an extra DVI output, etc. But internally they look to be pretty much the same.

    Aftermarket Stereo

Holy cow, that's awesome! I've built a few mini-ITX machines before, but I never considered putting one in a 2-din car stereo case! I wonder how it would handle heat. When my car has been sitting in the sun, and it's 120 degrees in that sucker, how will that thing handle it? Might just have...

    Acceleration Hesitation

Aftermarket companies very commonly provide options to reflash your ECU with custom programming. Those reflashes usually include lots of changes (such as more aggressive ignition timing) and very often throttle response changes. Toyota, however, probably made the throttle response sluggish...

    Acceleration Hesitation

From the manufacturer, reprogramming is generally not an option unless the manufacturer has determined that their programming is actually flawed in some way and is causing a problem. Then they'll often issue a TSB for it, allowing you to bring in your vehicle to get the ECU reprogrammed...

    Acceleration Hesitation

Just wanted to toss in my 2 cents here, now that I've driven my 5th gen for a few years. Mine has this hesitation, as well, mostly when starting from a stop. I apply the throttle, nothing happens, so I apply a little more, then boom, the take off is too strong. It seems to get a bit...

    FLAC audio codec support

Yeah, I figured it was unlikely. Most factory stereos (even the optional upgraded models like the JBL in the Toyotas) tend to be a little short on features. How about ALAC? (Apple's lossless codec) Yeah, I know, I'm grasping here. :) I was just hoping I'd have a lossless option. It's not...

    FLAC audio codec support

Does anyone happen to know if the factory nav system supports the FLAC audio codec? I haven't tried it yet, but I figure tomorrow I put some flac files onto my usb stick and take it out there to test it.

    Fully Enabled Nav Functionality!

I just found this post while doing a search on this forum for Coastaletech, so I figured I'd update this thread. I contacted Coastaletech today about a "lockpick" for the 2010+ 4runners, and they responded with exactly the same response that sandcrawler got. I'm guessing it might be a while...

    Subtle Lift: Recommendations?

Here is my 4runner with the the top plate spacers. No other mods. They level it out perfectly. (edit: oops, didn't realize I posted the same pic up above already. It's been a while.) :) Toytec top plate spacers by Joe Reiter, on Flickr

    Canvasback Cargo Liner

The slippery surface can be dealt with pretty easily with a blanket thrown over them, but they will still slide a little. Not sure if you maybe misread my comment about the Velcro, though. It does *not* come loose easily. It sticks well. I had heard from other people that their Velcro was...

    Canvasback Cargo Liner

I still like mine a lot. Holding up fine with my two dogs. Dog fur does stick to them a little, requiring a sticky roller to get 100% clean, but it's much easier than the factory carpet. Not nearly as much fur sticks to them as the carpet. We've also gotten them pretty muddy a few times...

    Aftermarket Stereo

To my knowledge only Kenwood uses Garmin. I believe Alpine and Pioneer do their own systems (or at least have at some point), and others probably outsource to other nav companies like TomTom.

    TE traction settings in snow?

Multi-Terrain Select is a special traction control setting for different situations. The first MTS setting works in 4HI, while the other 3 settings require 4LO. You don't really need MTS for driving in snow since TRAC/VSC work very well, although you can certainly use MTS if you like. I've...
