FLAC audio codec support

Does anyone happen to know if the factory nav system supports the FLAC audio codec? I haven't tried it yet, but I figure tomorrow I put some flac files onto my usb stick and take it out there to test it.

Yeah, I figured it was unlikely. Most factory stereos (even the optional upgraded models like the JBL in the Toyotas) tend to be a little short on features.

How about ALAC? (Apple's lossless codec) Yeah, I know, I'm grasping here. :) I was just hoping I'd have a lossless option. It's not a huge deal, since this really only matters if I want to use a USB stick. I can just start using my Android phone as the source for everything, which will play FLAC just fine. Or I could stick with ALAC, since my Android phone and my wife's iPhone will handle that. (Don't want to leave her out in the cold!)

Or convert just for the USB stick. Thats what I end up doing. iTunes will convert to mp3. And since the stock only lives in the 4R it's not a big deal.

itunes will not convert flac to mp3 .
you will have to use a program like dbpoweramp to convert the flac to apple lossless or mp3 .. apple loss less is about the same quality as flac .fwiw
