It was a used Toyota OEM part (I double checked with him). He showed me the worn out part and you could see some of the splines were erased looking almost. 318,000 miles on the original part though -- not too shabby. Here's a pic of the part after the fix -

What year is your 4Runner? I have a 1997 4Runner that dies upon start after it's hot -- I looked online and didn't see a check valve for a 97 3.4 Liter -- only a fuel pump. If I buy a fuel pump will it have the check valve built in? Thanks. ja

I have a 97 4Runner 317k miles blowing cold air from the rear heater and hot from the front. Time to figure it out.
