Have a 97 sr5 with 5 speed. Need to either rebuild or replace tranny....anyone know the code/number for this truck?

The loose valve measured .61, after shimming .33........I took it to a couple different shops before doing it and nobody acted like the ticking sound was that big of a deal. Heard stuff like "a tappy valve is a happy valve".

I'll second pulling the cam instead of fighting with the tools you need to pull the shims out from underneath it. Did this a year ago and the shims cost $13, but they did have to order them. I did mine because of the excessive ticking sound, found that the number 1 exhaust valve was loose. Can't...

have a 1997 5vz-fe, looking for the toyota part # for a block/frost plug heater....spent the last hour searching with no luck

think i found it....that small pin on the end of throttle linkage cable wasn't seated just right. won't be able to fire it up until morning, exhaust not hooked up.

oem.....looked a little different than what was in there. just got the truck a few months ago, don't know the history. seems like its getting plenty of fuel though

cleaned it with specific maf cleaner

5vz-fe, manual trans, 4wd....replaced fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulator. Now when i start it, it goes wide open and doesn't act like it will settle down before i shut it down at 4-5 thousand rpm. never mess with throttle linkage adjustment nuts, just remove cables and take off throttle...

got the trans out, that cover was definitely a pia. Thanks again, i was on the verge of making it in to something much worse.

got the metal plate separated but still not letting go. Just surprised to have that much separation and no be able to pull apart. seems to be lined up well and all wiring is clear.....
