My new 2014 Trail... Build Thread?

I knew I would be bad at updating this thread... haha. So some updates. Lift/level kit is on. I went with Bilstein 5100s all the way around and 1” Cornfed rear spacers. I was nervous going into it because of all the posts about KDSS nightmares, but there is really nothing to worry about. It went...

My new 2014 Trail... Build Thread?

I’ve been working on a few little mods while this thing is sitting in my driveway. Apparently if you buy a car from a private seller in SC and you live in NC, there is no way to get a temporary tag. You just have to wait to get the title and go to the DMV. The first thing I did was tackle the...

My new 2014 Trail... Build Thread?

It’s a 2000 7.3! I added the 2006 front end and 2008 back end. My plans are to lower it a couple inches and get rid of the stack, it’s not as cool as it used to be haha. It’s been a great truck though, I’ll never get rid of it!

My new 2014 Trail... Build Thread?

Thanks for all the pointers!! I love the white too, white with the black wheels and all just looks so clean! I’ll be putting a lot of road miles on this one, but I want to set it up for light trails and camping. We have a trail system nearby here in NC called Uwharrie OHV, it has everything from...

My new 2014 Trail... Build Thread?

I’m not new to the 4Runner world, but I did unfortunately get away from it for a while. I had an 87 and then a 96 SR5 V6 manual transmission that I loved... but I sold it a couple years ago. The itch finally got too strong and I drove down to Charleston, SC a few days ago and picked up this 2014...

    RedPowerstroke's 96 Build Thread

Ok let's see if I can catch up on the updates. The lightbar and ditch lights are mounted: I also made up a Bussman fuse panel and mounted it under the hood. It was a nightmare trying to find somewhere to mount it, I ended up moving the throttle control and some other stuff to wedge it in on...

    RedPowerstroke's 96 Build Thread

More updates! -swapped pretty much all of my lights to LED -ordered LED taillights -changed headlights and corners to black/clear and put in HIDs -ordered Bussman fuse panel and OTRATTW switch panel -ordered 20" single row LED lightbar and two LED pods with windshield mounts from CBI offroad...

    RedPowerstroke's 96 Build Thread

Unfortunately that isn't my trailer, I wish it was! It is my buddy's that he bought to match his truck, we have twin trucks except his is a 6.0 dually. But yeah so far the 3rd gen club has been much more enjoyable for me than the 1st gen club!

    RedPowerstroke's 96 Build Thread

I started my Toyota adventures a few years ago when I picked up an 86 regular cab pickup for $800. The only thing not dented, rusted or broken on it was the steering wheel. I dumped a ton of money and time into it, trying to make the awesome flatbed rock crawler I had in my head come to life...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Well... I tried to put in my sweet new OTRATTW Elocker switch today, but I ordered the wrong one so that didn't work out. So I decided to make a couple decals. Cutom "SRD" decals for the sides: My version of the Mall Crawler decal (sorry for the crappy cell phone pic):

    Replacing Elocker Control Switch

So I bought my 96 with a retrofitted Elocker and Inchworm harness already installed. It has a plain old metal toggle switch with a light beside it to control the Elocker. When I ordered all of my other switches from OTRATTW, I bought a new Carling rocker for the Elocker. Today when I tore the...

    New Guy from Harrisburg, NC

I don't know how I have never stumbled across this forum until now, but it is pretty awesome, so I signed up. I'm 24, just graduated from UNCC and work as a firefighter/EMT and also run my own sign/decal business. My first 4Runner is an 87 that I bought a couple years ago with hopes to turn it...
