Bingo. I hit a small branch and it put a dimple in the chrome strip, luckily it did not touch or damage the plastic bumper. I got real lucky.

Thanks to all it's off and I'm off to dealer for strip. I'm over 60 and for me the lift does make it easier I can position vehicle at whatever height is easiest for me to work at.

I was concerned that might be the case. Is there anywhere I can find directions as to where to start? I do have a lift but anyone vehicle is occupying it now. Will use of lift make it easier? thanks, ron

How is re chrome bumper strip removed from rear bumper on a 2012?

Can not do that now I've already reinstalled it and have another car on lift now. I did put in 2 new bilsteins on my ML320 and I had to push them down with rod on floor to compress them.
