I gotcha. So they don't stay on all the time. I have no idea if your model has the DRL's or not. My year (2003) does not. So headlights are only on if you turn the switch on. If I shut the car off when the headlights on, they turn off automatically after a few and of course would turn on...

I have no idea if there's a factory "programmable" setting that might allow them to turn off automatically, even if you turn the vehicle off and leave the headlights on. But I wouldn't think there's a setting that keeps the lights on at all times. Are you having to disconnect the battery?

I have a 2003 SR5 V8. My headlights are not always on, unless I leave them turned to the "ON" position. Are you saying when you turn the Runner off, and turn the headlight switch off, that they stay on?
