electrical - dome light / clock / rear window

Hi, A couple quick questions. My clock isn't keeping power when the key is off and my dome light no longer works. Is this issue related? Any suggestions on how to fix? I may have plugged in a loose connector under the steering wheel over the summer when I reconnected the power doors...

austintaco - what color is your 4runner?

That's a great story about your truck and thanks for the code. What manufacturer is the color code from? I live in central Oregon - so you won't have to worry about seeing a clone of your 4unner driving around. ;)

austintaco - what color is your 4runner?

Your truck is absolutely the coolest 4runner I have seen. If you don't mind sharing, and if you know it - what is the color code for that orange paint? - Marvelous! thanks and cheers, WM

    Removing Doors

sweet - thanks for the info. For easy removal I was planning to cut the door pins and replace it with a longer similar size pin/bolt and use cotter pin to keep it in place. I wish I didn't have to cut the wires. I am surprised there isn't a connector somewhere I can pull. If cut I must -...

    Removing Doors

How do you disconnect the wiring to take the doors off? Also, is there fuse I should pull to turn of the door buzzer and dome light? I knew all this for my jeep but now I start over with my 88 4runner. Thanks. It's finally summer here in Oregon. WM

tires that fit into the spare tire area?

LOL - :) I measured it and feel pretty confident a 31" tire fill fit with no worries and I suspect I can get a 32" in there if I remove the hitch. Just looking for some outside feedback. 5 new tires is big chunk of change and I'd prefer to have no surprises.

Can you fit a 32" BFG /TKO under a first gen if you take out the OEM hitch or modify it?

    off set

Thanks for the quick info fellas. I'll pass on these rims. A bit it too wide for a daily driver. I'll do some more research on tire specs. cheers, WM

    off set

I am planning to buy new rims and tires to run 31"s on my '88 4runner. I found some nice used rims: Mickey Thompson 10 x 10.5 with 3 5/8 off set. I don't quite fully grasp the offset vs. back spacing concept yet. I am hoping to have the tires stick out an inch or two wider than the stock...

    windjammer tonneau cover?

Did you remove or replace the rear interior panels with some thing rhino-linable (something other than the stock carpet vinyl panels)?

    windjammer tonneau cover?

Has anyone ever seen a 1st gen runner with an windjammer tonneau cover set up (like the one on this scrambler)? Seems like it would be pretty cool system.http://www.pikamarcom.com/images/AA_CJ8_HALFlg.jpg

tires that fit into the spare tire area?

Can you fit a 31" or 32" into the spare tire area? The hitch seems like it might limit tire size there. Thanks and Cheers, WM Oh and also - it seems well posted here that you can fit 31" tires on stock suspension w/o rubbing. How about 32" tires?

4.88 gears, 31" tires and mpg

I currently have 235/75/R15s and I am thinking of running 31s or 32s and regearing to 4.56 to maintain decent gas mileage and power. My mechanic suggests I go with 4.88 gears for better power. Any body have an comments on this? I am, looking for the best blend of fuel efficiency and power...

    OME install

I am thinking of trying to install an OME 2" kit from Rocky Road Outfitters to take care of the rear sag. The kit would includes new rear springs and shocks for both front an back, steering dampener and bushings. The install process doesn't seem too difficult, but how do you know that you have...
