How would one go about making their engine louder? I don't want a louder exhaust; that sounds just fine. What I want to hear is the engine itself.

I am considering painting my stock calipers red with paint designed for use on them. I was wondering if anyone has already done this? If so how did they come out? I figure this would at a minimum add a 15% performance increase :P
I am considering adding an inch or two with spacers but I am not sure of the side effects. Will I get reduced handling? Very top heavy? Reduced MPG's? Thanks in advance!!
I have been wanting to add horsepower to my 2008 Sr5 v8. It comes stock with 260 horsepower, but I would really like 300 or so. What could I do keeping money in consideration to make my 4runner a "4sprinter"?
