    1995 4Runner sputtering

I did a continuity test on the distributor last night using the FSM found on this site. I have proper continuity between G & G1; G & G2, but between G & NE I get nothing. Not knowing where those wires go, etc., why do I have enough spark for it to run?

    1995 4Runner sputtering

Okay, for a little update, but first I appreciate the suggestions. The fuel pressure is good, about 44 psi and holds the pressure after shutting of the engine. I went ahead and replaced the spark plugs. The gap on the NGK's was almost to .45 and the number 5 had black carbon, but ironically that...

    1995 4Runner sputtering

I guess I forgot to mention that I put new NGK wires on last Saturday. The resistance on the old ones seemed bad, but it didn't change anything. I guess its time to get after the elusive vacuum leak. Thanks for the help. After checking the distributor this morning there is nothing wrong there...

Yes, I did. I jumped the TE1 and E1 terminals and set the idle at 900 rpm.

    1995 4Runner sputtering

I'll try to be brief, but there is some background to this problem. The car wasn't really running that bad, maybe a little weaker than the normal weak 3.0 except for a couple of exhaust leaks. I pulled the engine to fix some leaks (pan, front and rear crank seals) and install a clutch and...

    TCase shifting

Thanks for the explanation on the slide collar and the vacuum line. At least I know there is nothing wrong with it. It just seemed from what I have understood that I could shift on the fly, which I usually can if the surface is ice or snow. It helps to be able to picture what is going on under...

    TCase shifting

I have a 1995 4Runner that wants to hang up in 4H. The lever shifts back to 2H, but many times the light stays on 4WD and if feels like its in 4H. It will sometimes shift by rocking the throttle, but sometimes it takes stopping, putting it into 4L first or backing up a little. How can the...
