    Power Steering Pump Options

What makes you think you need to replace the PS pump? I'm starting to think the same of my '96.. Until it's very "warmed-up", I hear a hum when I turn the steering wheel at low speeds. I don't feel any difference in the amount of resistance or force it takes to turn the steering wheel, and the...

    Spare Key and Alarm Fob

We purchased our 4th gen used without a spare key or alarm fob, so I had my first mission. Thanks to this forum I got er done for about 20 bucks: a spare transponster (Friends anyone?) key and a spare Viper alarm fob. Sidenote- I thought it was just an alarm/keyless entry until one night I was...

How to make spare chipped keys

Well, I just ordered a couple of keys here Amazon.com: New Uncut Blank Transponder Key for Toyota 4Runner FJ Cruiser Tundra Yaris Avalon Corolla (Chip #4D-67): Automotive and got them cut at WalMart. They'll go into the ignition, but won't turn. They only go halfway into the door locks...

    Not-so-busted Beach Trip

My girls and I planned a trip to the beach last Friday and the weather was forecast to be partly cloudy. Well, it turned out to be more like overcast and winds from hell. So, I was pleased to just have it off asphalt for the first time since we've owned it, albeit VERY benign terrain.

Low mileage vs. newer model year

Thanks. My wife and I weren't initially fond of the color, we were looking more for blue/black/silver. But I really like the Driftwood and black combo.

Low mileage vs. newer model year

Not sure of the brand, but it's just a spacer lift as far as I can see. I want more..

Low mileage vs. newer model year

Was forced to pass on the '07. The owner was put into a tough spot, had an air transfer pump(?) that needed replacing and was told it was a $2k job (dealership and 2nd opinion). They didn't want to sell it as is (good on them), so the deal just bogged down. But, not to fear. We did buy this...

Low mileage vs. newer model year

Been looking for a 4th gen for a while now and found a couple on which we're ready to pull the trigger. Vehicles are the same, for the most part. For us, the disparity lies in the model year and price, of course. 2003 Ltd V8 4wd 64,xxx mi. 2007 SE V8 4wd 70,xxx mi. -(with entertainment...

Cylinder 6 misfire, checked obvious culprits..

All this fuss and it ended up being a bad wire. After I got off the phone with the mechanic I figured I would try the wires before I took it anywhere, especially since I already had them. Lo and behold, the shutter went away. I went ahead and changed all spark plugs in addition to the wires...

Cylinder 6 misfire, checked obvious culprits..

Called a local mechanic and he said he'd think injector since it's not overheating and no white smoke out of the exhaust. That the coolant fluctuation could be coincidental due to dissipation. Seems like a good amount of dissipation for such little driving though.

Cylinder 6 misfire, checked obvious culprits..

Well, I checked out the cold coolant level again today. It had actually dropped about an inch from where I refilled it. When I checked it before, it was after just driving and the level had risen. So, I've got the wires. I'm not going to even bother, they won't fix a coolant leak. I think I've...

Cylinder 6 misfire, checked obvious culprits..

Wires are about 2 yrs old. It gets below average miles put on it, so that's why they're 2 yrs old. I did notice the plug that I replaced was single electrode, which surprised me. Guess I didn't know any better last time I did a tune up. So, I'll start at the wires. Do you have much faith in...
