Totaled out our diesel and trailer

Well, last wednesday I tboned a uhaul on the freeway that tried to make an illegal uturn in front of me. I was hauling our gooseneck with a load of fenceposts on it. After everything came to a stop, I walked away from the accident. Bumps, bruises and a broken foot.

Damn, so sorry to read but glad to see you're able to post here!
Vehicles can be repaired/replaced....

BTW, how did the other folks make out considering the hit to the drivers side?

There was only one person in the uhaul. When i saw him sitting on the side of the road he had quite the goose egg under his forehead. I tipped over that uhaul, and dumped my load of fenceposts willy nilly all over the freeway.

As it stands right now, that ol boy is screwed. Cited for illegal u-turn and failure to yield, by witnesses. Plus his insurance, and uhaul's insurance is gonna end up being maxed out for the tow bill.....2 rotators, 5 rollbacks, and a lowboy for our equipment alone came to 11.4 k.

terra, there are folks at GM working on figuring out why the airbags didnt deploy. We may have a civil suit against GM for that as well as the suit we are filing against the uhaul driver.

Well still glad you walked away. Sucks. Definitely looks like it did enough damage to set a sensor off, but who knows.

In all seriousness, I'm glad you are alright, especially with no airbags, I'm amazed by that outcome.

Atleast you can say to yourself - You cow-tipped a UHaul!
 
That Duramax is a mess. I am glad you are OK.

Put the steel panels of a Chevy C10 or C20 on that modern frame and that Uhaul would have been cut in half.

heh. We bought a new duramax to replace that one. 2012 3500 CCLB dually. The hubby is happy.

We can all sit back and laugh that when I mess things up, I definitely do a bangup job of it!

On a more somber note, the t4r may end up going on the chopping block after that accident. I dont really feel comfortable anymore in anything other than a true full-size truck. Its way up in the air, however.
 
I was driving on the freeway to work and the driver in front of me went to sleep and drove up a hill and flipped back down. no airbags went off. i guess newer cars can predict wether airbags are needed or not? the passanger compartment looked relatively intact in the truck.

GM tends to not know what they are doing when it comes to electrical. I have a rant I may post up some day, but to keep it short: My mom's TrailBlazer headlights flicker like strobes, and Chevy says they don't know what's wrong with it after making us spend thousands to replace EVERY computer on the thing. So my dad asked what he's supposed to do when her lights go out for good and she gets killed, they said there's nothing we can do. So, I have a feeling he will be buying Japanese next time.
 
Its pretty simple really, there are crash sensors located just behind the bumpers and body panels, on newer vehicles they are every where.....the fact that they didn't deploy on that truck is most likely a malfunction of the module that runs those sensors. Just my .02. I sold parts for a car dealer for years, and we replaced a lot of those modules under manufacture warrenty.
