Who has heard of a Toyota Blizzard??

I have a chance to buy one if these very cheap and I was wondering if anyone has ever seen one in person and or even owned one. I read all about them online, so I know the history and what they are, but I'm More interested in knowing if I should drop 2k on a 1991 US model or let it go.

I'm only interested because I have never seen one before and it's the size if a samurai. Could be a fun little project vehicle.

Any info on value and what to watch out for would be great.

They're not Toyotas.

My uncle has a 1980 one, it looks like a stunted FJ40, and he runs it on Biodiesel. It was built by Daihatsu.

Yours is the Daihatsu Rocky, which wasn't really a great truck, IMO.
 
Getting parts could be a problem, Dihatsu pulled out of the US years ago.
But it would be neat to have.

Since most inevitably will have t-case and tranny problems. They look like an FJ70, but have none of the durable running gear...

Every time I have an itch for an unusual vehicle I just pitcure the look on the face of an Autozone parts guy when I tell him I need a cotter pin for a Daihatsu Rocky/Toyota Blizzard transfer case.

"It is a rare Toyota vehicle with less than a dozen known examples in North America. Visually very similar to the Daihatsu vehicles, they were rebadged by Toyota and utilize Toyota engines."


If it were me and I had the extra cash, I would buy it just for the rare factor.

You are sorta correct, they were built by Daihatsu but they were a Toyota. That's like saying the matrix is not a Toyota because it was built with Pontiac

For grins I called pep boys and was able to locate several common parts (note: all parts looked up were for a rocky). I fond brakes, starter, valve cover gasket, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, shocks, alternator, headlights, water pump, two belts, and even a radiator. The parts are there, I just don't know if the truck is worth nearly 2k

The rocky is in the catalogs.
