My Experience at Discount Tire

Just got new tires to my 3rd gen: Discoverer AT3.

They even rechecked the torque on all 4 wheel spacers! Also cleaned the wheel mating surface with a wire-brush too! Never seen this kind of service elsewhere.
Overall they did a great job.

Go in the morning to get the job done at ease.

I've been going to Discount Tire since the late '70s, always been very happy with their service, selection, and warranty.
 
I've been to them too but am getting equal/better service and pricing through Tirebuyer lately. Free shipping on tires to your mounting shop and a fixed $66 for mount/balance locally. Closer and hard to beat numbers...

If you go through discounttiredirect.com you can purchase wheels/tires with free shipping and no tax. Then once you have them take them to the local Discount and get the mounted and balanced for free. Don't see how you can beat that.

I've been using DT since I could drive, and my dads been using them for 10 years before that. I have yet to be disappointed.
 
Been going to Discount for 15 years. Have had tires put on dozens of cars, send all my family there, and friends. Everyone loves their service and prices. Unless they change for some reason, i'm a customer for life.
 
My wheel came loose and almost fell off after their service shop in San Diego balanced my tires.

=> Always re-check your lug nuts the next day.

I have bought the last 4 sets of tires for my last 4 vehicles from Discount tire and have nothing but good things to say about them.
 
I had 2 slightly used duratracs and bought 2 brand new from them, discount let me buy certificates (warranty) for the slightly used tires. Now that's awesome! All three of our vehicles go there.
 
wow, glad you had a good experience. I usually just take them loose wheels now since they stripped 18/20 studs on my last truck...they did accept fault and paid for the repairs. Newbies and impacts do not mix!!
 
There are no stores local to me, but I only order tires from Discount Tire Direct. Their prices are hard to beat.
 
This is the forth time for me in a year. Two sets of Nitto Terra Grappler on T4R and on sons Tacoma. One set of Nitto Dura Grappler on sons T4R and have always received great service. No nicks on coated rims. Lugs perfectly torqued. Good prices.
Took my 2013 Fusion for some new Nitto Motivos great 60k mile tire. Besides having enough tire lube left over on the new tires, rims and car I could have opened my own shop. After cleanup I noticed yellow paint from torque socket scratched on my wheel and about 9 lugs so rounded I cannot get my 6 point socket on. A call to the manager said they would replace my lugs, so another trip to the shop!!!

Always been happy with the service at discount, bought probably at least a dozen sets of tires from them. Will be going down next week to get a new set of hankook dynapro mt's.
 
I like my local Discount shop, but they piss themselves when they see a wheel spacer. Which is weird, because the owner/manager is a wheeler, parks a nicely built XJ out front.

This right there is the best. You can actually have them shipped direct to the shop so you don't have to deal the tires at all. I will point out though that if they have a warehouse in the state where you live (like here in AZ), you still have to pay tax. You always pay for mounting/balancing/disposal, that is never free.

One bad story though:
When I was in high school, I was in the automotive tech program. We took my dad's truck in to get new tires and I noticed that the installer was using the wrong adapters on the lift, so we walked over to tell him. He gave some bs response like, "I don't normally work at this store" (like that mattered), and kept lifting the truck. Right then, the whole truck slid off the lift. All three of us thought we were about to be smashed against the wall. Luckily it got caught on the lift arms and stopped. They ended up paying to replace a bunch of stuff under the truck, but it pulled to the left for the rest of the years he had it and it drove my dad nuts. He still won't go there.

That said, one retarded employee does not ruin a national chain, and I have been happily using them for years.

I just bought a set of 4 online from discounttiredirect. So youre saying I can get them mounted and balance for FREE if I bring it to a local discount tire center? Never knew this, gonna stop by this weekend.
 
Question while we're on the topic, when I get new tires do I need the TPMS rebuild kit. I just got new wheels and tires 2 years ago and got the rebuild kit at that point, do I need it again?

Mounting and balancing will be $16.50 per tire, which is the same price if you bought them at the store. At least that is how they handled it at the store here in LV. That also included rebuilding the TPMS as well.
