Driver's side speakers cut in and out: JBL w/ Nav.

Just picked up an '06 4Runner. It's a limited with the JBL synthesis & factory navigation. Since I bought the car, the driver's side speakers cut in and out. I did take it to the dealer, and they recommended a new factory speaker to the tune of $450. Didn't go down that road, because I wasn't born yesterday. I bought new 6x9 kicker components for the front, and kicker coax 6.75's for the rear for less than $250 all said and done.

I plan on installing when the temps warm up a bit, but in the meantime, has anyone else experienced this issue? My concern is that I'll replace the speakers and the problem will persist. That would leave troubleshooting the amp and head-unit. For those that might have had to troubleshoot the amp or h/u, did you just check for voltage from particular channel in question?

For those following:

I replaced the factory amp with a replacement unit. What you get with a replacement unit in a 2007 in the entire sub-assembly and amp. PN# 86150-0W090 for the 8 speaker set-up.

Unfortunately, this was a bust. I still have both channels, right & left, that go in and out. I plan on replacing the speakers next, and then the head unit if necessary. I think the problem is exacerbated by the cold, but I can't prove that until we're polar-vortex free here in northern Illinois.

The saga continues:

Switched out the front and rear speakers with Kicker units. 6x9 components up front, and rear 6 3/4 coaxes. I didn't install the tweeter or crossover, just to keep my troublshooting points to a minimum. I like the sound coming out of these, but my problem persists. I'll be looking into replacement navigation units soon, and only aftermarket ones.
