01-04 Tacoma front seats in a 3rd gen?

Will seats from a 01-04 Tacoma go in a 3rd gen 4Runner? I have a buddy who may be willing to give me the front seats from a Tacoma he is parting out from an 04 Tacoma. Will these bolt into my 4runner. or can I mount them into the existing seat rails from my 96 seats?

they should fit, the front seats from my 4r fit into a tacoma so should go vice versa.

It's the individual buckets not a split bench type seat. Thanks for the responses. Ill find out soon I got the seats today they are some really nice leather ones... should make a nice upgrade over the worn out leather ones in my 96.

Why in God's name would you want to do that? I had an 04 Tacoma with the split bench seat and it sucked. Really, really bad. Not only that, I couldn't get commercial seat covers to fit without a lot of modification. They're not as adjustable as the ones on my 99 SR5, either.

Oh, and did I mention that they SUCK? 'Cause they do.

Just my $0.02, but I'd find seats from another 4runner. I'd sit on a milk crate before I sat on Tacoma seats.

I assure you these buckets will be a nice upgrade from what's in there. The old leather seats are really hard/stiff and are cracked. Also if you lean back too hard in the drivers seat the backrest will cock to one side a bit. The stock 4Runner seats were power adjustable and these are not, but I really didnt care all that much for power adjustable.

Ok, so I just took a look and snapped a few photos. I really only looked at the driver's side front and from the looks of it, it doesn't look like my seats would swap. Here are the Photos:

DOOD, he is getting straight bucket seats!! LOL they will fit and it's not a bench!

EDIT: FYI, Tacoma's with split bench have mounts for buckets!

Be careful when you take your seats in/out. The nuts on the inside are lightly tacked on and 2 of mine fell off and were a total pain to tighten back up. First I had to get the nuts out with a magnet. Then I had to tape the nuts to a box wrench and stick my whole arm up there through an access hole, arm painfully pinched under the seat, while kneeling and blindly fish it around until a buddy could line me up from the top and put the bolt in and tighten it. Then one got loose a week later so I said screw it and thru-bolted the damn thing.

Well the seat installation went very well. Had no problems removing the bolts -- the outside bolts were the hard ones because the bottoms were a little rusted from being exposed to underneath the truck. Anyway, got the old seats out and put in the new Tacoma seats. All the holes lined up mostly perfectly except the outside front. That bracket must be bent a few degrees using large pliers or channel locks, and you'll need to redrill the bracket as the bolt hole in it is about 1cm off. Otherwise everything lines up. I think the tacoma seat is a few millimeters narrower in the mounting brackets, but the bolts will easily pull everything into place. I'll get some picture up tomorrow.

Here are some pictures. Still haven't gotten the front outside bolt in place, even after redrilling the brackets. The remedy is going to be getting some longer bolts. So note that you'll need a drill and two longer bolts of the same thread pitch to install these Tacoma seats in a 3rd gen. 4runner.

Thanks I like them a lot. While they do have less lateral support than the 4Runner seats, these are actually much more comfortable than the ones they replaced for the simple fact that the leather is soft and the cushion is not worn out. Also there are no cracks in the leather.

I'll update as soon as I get the needed bolts to complete the mounting.
