01 suspension upgrade

100k with original parts. i have a 2wd and don't want it lifted, well at least not too much, plus i don't do any off roading.

what can i use from another vehicle that is a direct bolt on and how much will it lift if any? i will be upgrading to 17's as well so i need to take that into consideration as well. :roadkill:

Im in the same boat since I'm still on my stock suspension. I'm still doing some research but was looking at Bilstein 5100s and a fresh set of 99 coils. Would love to see what others are doing for a suspension refresh for us non off roaders.
 
It seems like the 99 talls paired with some Billies would be the way to go for you. It will ride really well and give you an inch over stock.

ok. 99 springs on all 4 corners? which billies as there seems to be several to choose from? what about rears? and where do i get the springs/shocks from; ebay, napa, toyota?

you say that combo will give an extra inch. so running 265/70/17's which are an inch taller over stock, will add 2 inches of extra height?

what is all this going to set me back? are bilstein 4600's any good? what about those monroe front combos?

Here are the 99 tall spring part #s. You can buy them from any Toyota dealer. Im still looking around for a shock to pair it with.
Front Passenger: 48131-35400
Front Driver: 48131-35350
Rears: 48231-35210

If you want a nice controlling ride. I'd to with the the bilstein hd's in all 4 corners, very nice riding shock, also handles well towing. For springs you should go with the 906s for the rear it will give you a rake, but it makes the truck level even with stock springs up front. Also it can handle loads a lot better than what you have. If you don't want much lift then the 99 talls might be ok but if you haul things it will sag unlike the 906s.

are those the 5100's? and also i don't want any rake but a level look, nor do i do any towing, at best, once a year.
what are 906's anyway? what brand?

I'd go with 99 talls and if you want to save money, just reuse the OE shocks. Don't really need longer shocks for the 99 springs. If you notice rear sag in some time, just get a 1" spacer or look to upgrade to 906's or something at that point.
 
5100s up front are a great way to go. OME has coils available for both front and rear. For a refresh be sure to replace your Coil Isolators, Sway Bar Bushings, and Steering Rack Bushings.
 
thank you fellas. it all makes sense now. this is all new to me and just joining i am catching up on new stuff. although i have a 2wd and don't do anything you guys do, i want my runner to perform as well as it looks.

definitely will replace all that stuff. after 100k, it's time for some or all that to go. already replaced rack bushings so good to go there.

No there the hd shock. More of an all around shock. If you don't haul much then I would go with the 99 talls, they're pretty soft and give a nice look to the truck.
