'01 Tail light converison on my '97

I'm in the process of trying to convert from my OEM '97 tail lights to some OEM '01 tail lights. I noticed that the top bulb, which I believe is the reverse bulb is a lot smaller in the '01 than the '97. I searched for other write ups but I couldn't find any that helped. Any of you guys done this conversion? Do I have to get a new bulb and little harness that holds it?

You're better off to the the OEM style LED tails:

I have both versions available though, but the leds look super cool in the OEM light.

to convert a 96-2000 4runner to the 01-02 tail lights you will need to buy the taillight wiring harness as well. these are about 16 bucks from the dealer and unplug from the harness and just plug the new wires in. this is what i did on my 99.

The lights I'm selling have the left & right harnesses and all new bulbs included. It's a simple install, not cutting or splicing needed.

Yea those are sweet man! I just so happened to pick these up for $20! I would definitely consider those!

Some kid had plasti-dipped them with a super thin but extremely hard layer to get off. Just went and picked up some Goo-gone and they look as good as new now!

I ended up with an extra harness when I converted mine - you're welcome to it if you'll pay the shipping. Should be able to fit it in a small Priority box, probably run around 5 or 6 bucks. PM me if you want it.
