02 ball joint recall

Got the recall letter from toyota about the lower ball joint recalls a couple of years ago. If I call them now will they replace still. Also, what if the dealer breaks other part near the area, will they replace for free. It looks rusty even though only 40000 miles.

Yes, the dealers will check your vin number if the recall has been repaired on your rig. They'll just replace whatever is recalled. You'll be responsible for other normal wear parts. Your Toyota Corrosion Warranty ended a long time ago, but some dealers may throw in the other parts. Thats if you're lucky.

So, if they break something MAJOR during the ball joint recall replacement, the dealer will just fix it and charge me, even though I came in for only the ball joints.

No worries there, they will just deny your VIN # recalls like the rest of us. Get those ball joints replaced immediately w/ only brand new OEM parts and bolts.

But researching on this forum. my 4runner fits the vin number range on the table i saw on a thread. Any experiences where recall fixes lead to more problems or more money for other fixes related to the ball joint replacement at the Dealership. ALSO, do bad BALL JOINTS cause vibration at highway speed 70mph ??

Wow! Its 2015. If the LBJs havent failed yet, how would they be considered faulty? Actually, they should have worn out normally by now.

Dont worry about them damaging your truck. The LBJs are an easy repair. You just pop the studs from the lower control arm and tierod, unbolt the LBJ from the Knuckle. They shouldnt have to touch anything else.

Anything loose in the front suspension/steering can cause vibrations. I just tracked my vibes down to worn out steering rack bushings.

Def go get the ball joints replaced under the recall. One less safety issue to worry about.
