02 DRL delete?

My wifes 02 has DRL's, but they are on full bright all the time. She has a dash cover, but I dont see any sort of photo sensor that it is covering up to make them on full bright all the time.

My understanding of DRL's is they are just a low low beam, then you turn on your lights to regule full beam.

Is there are sort of easy delete to get rid of the DRL's? I am tried of switching out bulbs because they are always on and burning out.

Follow the link p nut posted. I've done this mod and it was very easy to do. You do not have to install the drl on/off switch as described in the article unless you just want to.

I simply snipped the correct wire on the drl module and volia! no more drls

Odd though that your drls are as bright as you say they are??

That is what gets me, why are they 100% all the time. At night when i turn on the lights there is no difference in brightness, it basically just turns on the parking lights

No. The drl systems between '00 and '01 are very different. The write up posted above will not work for you. However...

For a '00 4Runner, open your hood and look inbetween your battery and fender. You should see a small black box. That's your drl module. Simply unplug that box and you will have effectively disabled your drls. Plug the connector back in and your drls will resume.

Just cover the connectors with something to keep debris from clogging them.
