02 E-Locker Retrofit

I recently required an elocked axle to put in my 2002 4runner. obviously its not a direct fit. that being said its not very complicated to modify it to work. I also need to make my own circuit with relays and probably a simple pic chip(picaxe in this case) to run the elocker since i dont have the ecu.

heres my game plan:
1: wire wheel the axle to remove surface rust.
2: paint it.
3: drain the axle
4: remove third member to inspect it for any damage, and make sure it functions properly.
5: modify brackets for the brake lines, and possibly beef up the axle a bit.
6: remove axles and drums off my current axle.
7: put my axles and drums into the elocked axle housing with new seals?
8: fill with oil
9: install onto my truck. and wire it to the new circuit.

I havent done any work on the rear axle before but I think this plan should work. the reason for using my current axles is that the elocked axle sat outside for a few years and the drums are pretty rusty. if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate the advice.

I am sure your drums and axles should work fine.
Yes, use new seals and get it done right at the first place.

I have a question. Isn't e-locker motor has 3 wires? One common and two live wires? One live wire engages the locker and one unlocks it? If this is right, I'll simply have a switch (like the door lock switch) to lock and unlock the locker.

I am also considering this modification and still didn't find an axle. I do not want to mess with the current axle.
 
Im not sure exactly how it works, I would assume its a closed loop system, basically there are two wires for the motor, apply power and it locks and reverse polarity and it unlocks. then there are two sensors that tell the ecu when the locker is engaged or disengaged, this is why the light flashes and then turns solid and vise versa. my pseudo code would be as follows

main
check locker state
if locked stay locked
if unlocked stay unlocked
if button pushed change state
loop

anyways something like this. ill list the code and parts list for the circuit so anyone can make it with a bit of soldering skills and the ability to use a computer.
