'03 hitch

I tried mounting all of my hitches in the new Toyota supplied receiver. The hitches are about two-three inches too long, the spare tire blocks further penetration. I know Toyota supplies a new hitch, but that requires me to remount all of my hitches and balls. Any suggestions?

This one is easy -- I've done this mod.

Reciprocating saw, metal cutting blade, and either someone to hold the hitch or a vise. Just cut off the excess length -- you don't need the extra length in the hitch for anything anyway.

Total time for this mod -- 10 minutes or less (per hitch).

One more thing -- when you cut off the excess, be sure to cover the exposed metal with some paint or sealant to prevent rust.

Just to let you know, the third generation has the same problem. The spare tire blocks deep penetration of the hitch.

So far I have not had to use the reciprocating saw. By the way, the reciprocating saw is a must have tool. The reciprocating saw is definitely a guy thing. It is good for destruction. I have a rotten Bay window, no problem, just use a reciprocating saw. Now putting it back together is another thing.

Absolutely!! Actually, I have 2 -- one that's powered by 110V, and the other is an 18-volt Dewalt. Both are must-haves.
