I went to the dealer to price a remanufactured brake caliper. They quoted me $235 for the caliper and $125 for the rotor. Should I pay the extra for the Toyota parts or should I get the $80 NAPA caliper and the NAPA rotor? By the way I have the 17" wheels so I guess the caliper and rotor are different. Please help I need to get my truck's yearly state safety inspection this month.

I think you should check with NAPA again and make sure that you tell them that you have 17" Wheels, so that the price you get is correct, I think that you will find that it will be more than the $80.00 , that being said I think that the NAPA parts will be just fine.... and I would bet, still less than the Toyota Parts:awais:

I don't know about the rotor but I got a reman NAPA caliper when I did mine. There was absolutely no difference. It was an original Toy casting. That is a good price so double check as suggested. It's not necessarily a wheel size designation for brakes. It is a Sport vs. others issue. There are Limited's with 17" or larger wheels but "regular" brakes. It would help to pull the wheel off and look at or take a picture of what you have so you can check at the counter. Also, watch out for left vs. right side (look in the box before you leave the counter; mine was boxed wrong.)

Am I going to be able to tell the difference between the 2 calipers and rotors? I was under the impression that the rotors are only fractions of an inch different in size. Are the castings different for the caliper, and are they different enough that I will be able to tell them apart without actually having the caliper in the NAPA store? My 4Runner is an 2003 SR5 with factory 17" inch wheels. The toyota parts counter ran my VIN and suggested I needed the rotors and calipers for the 17" rims.

Check the thread (by homie) that I just bumped. It has some pics of the 2 calipers and also explains the difference between the 2 sizes of brake systems. I would think that if you have a non-Sport SR5 you have the standard smaller brakes even though you have 17" wheels. Take some measurements and search the threads.
