03 Stereo question

Hey Im new here, not sure if this questions been asked before but I figured id ask to see what sorta answeres id get. I was wondering with the stock stereo on a 03 4Runner is it possible to wire it to a amp for subs? or would I need a new aftermarket head unit. Thanks

You can do this with the stock head unit. There are two ways, depending on the amp. Some amplifiers have speaker level inputs. With this, you tap the speaker wires and it feeds signal to the amp. If the amp you're getting doesn't have this, you can use a line out converter (LOC) to do the same thing as the speaker level inputs. I don't know that it'll help, but check out the link in my sig for my sub/amp install. I used the speaker level inputs on the amp.

Hey thanks for the reply. Im not sure about the amp yet, havent gotten it yet just wondering if this will work before i put it in or else its going in my chevy lol what is the line out converter though?
