03 v8 won't idle

Hey everyone. So just put my lift on, got it off the lift and tried to start it. It started just fine then would immediately die. I tried again, stayed on the throttle, then got on it pretty hard a couple of times and it hasn't done it sense. But it did do it a couple of times. I've got a trip planned this weekend for crown king in Arizona and I don't need it happening again while out there. Timing belt was changed 6k ago. I haven't looked at the fuel filter or fuel pump yet. Was wondering if anyone has an idea of what it might be and if a very novice gear head can fix? Any help would be appreciated guys and gals. And if anyone is in Arizona easter weekend message me.

Haven't seen any 4Runner suffer from this, but my JGC did this constantly. check the AIC (Air Idle Control valve). Easy to do (at least on an I-6).

I'm going to guess that when you put your lift on, you put upper control arms, which mean you probably removed the battery to get the long bolt out?

Sounds like you might need to clean the throttle body and let the vehicle relearn the idle.

Most Throttle By Wire vehicles do not have an IAC as the electronic throttle is independently actuated by the ECM and can be actuated more accurately than a traditional IAC.

I realize this is an old post but I figured I'd add to it.

I just replaced my battery in my 2004 4runner and it wouldn't idle. I tried all the things I read: leave key in on position for 10 min, remove battery cable for 10 min, let idle for 10 min, give it gas while in park for 10 min, & tried driving it around a little while to relearn. None of that worked for me.

What did seem to work so far was driving it for about 20 min & getting it to speeds of 55mph or more. It would try to stall at stops until I noticed after more driving the RPMs would drop to 400 when slowing down to turn and then kick up on its own to about 800 or so. When I made it back home and put it in Park I watched the RPMs raise from 500 to 750 in just a few minutes. I put it in drive and good to go!

I read a lot about cleaning the throttle body & MAF but I didn't have to do that. I could be wrong since I'm not an actual Toyota mechanic but thought I'd try to save people the time.
