because I think I want something a bit more fun and less practical. I sold my 2002 BMW M3 to save money and get a practical car. I'm now moving to a new area, starting a new job, and feeling like I want a fast car. I'm thinking about buying a Subaru STI. I know I'll lose money on the transaction. The amount of money I lose will determine if I keep the 4Runner or get the STI. It's basically a win-win situation, but I'm a guy and I change my mind sometimes (okay too often).

Wow! To each his own, but in my mind that would be a downgrade. A guy here at work has one with just about every performance mod that you can do, and I still wouldn't want to trade. Yes, it is super fast, but pretty darn bumpy. Well, I guess it has its place, and everyone has a different idea of fun. I would spend my extra dough on a Supercharger (when available).
It is definitely different than an STI. The STI is a performance car and will be a much stiffer and somewhat less comfortable ride. The 4Runner is very reliable, practical, and will be fun on trips to Tahoe and hauling friends around. I just feel like I want some excitement from my vehicle. It probably doesn't help that I had a BMW M3. I also have an opportunity to buy an STI at invoice. It still might not make sense with the money I would lose selling a 5 month old 4Runner. We'll see what happens. Oh, sorry, I'm not interested in trading for a fast truck.
