04 v6 Car inspection set vsc light

I have a 2004 v6 about 150k miles.
No codes present

Went in for NH inspection. Shop claims that they
couldn't connect or read obd computer
with the NH state code reader.

I note that now the VSC trac and VSC off lights are blinking.
I cycle power. VSC trac and VSC off lights go off but then come
back on in about 1/4 mile. Now they are on continuously.
(no CEL )

I bring car to dealer. They say that they cannot reset the yaw sensor.
They say I need at least a Yaw sensor but they are not sure what else is wrong. >700.00$

And all I needed was an inspection

The only thing that has happened strange is battery died on car (left light on)
recently.


Any ideas???

Dealer did this 3x times and it keeps coming back.

I am familiar with the procedure as I have done it as well


I am just puzzled why code reader at first garage seems to have messed up everything

wiring diagram between obd and ECM??

OK. The dealer cannot find the issue now I am regretting leaving it
with them over the weekend.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows connections between
(2004) 4runner OBD port and ECM (aka ECU) ?

I was able to connect to OBD with my cheapie OBD reader, but the dealer
is not able to reset/recalibrate the yaw sensor and he is not able to connect
to OBD for NH inspection. Dealer did however replace the yaw sensor
at a cost of 700 which is fkg outrageous!!
I asked for my old yaw sensor which I am damn sure is fine and I will
swap it back in and check when (and if) this issue is resolved.

Having said all this---Anyone recommend a indy toyota mechanic in
south east NH ??

If they couldn't read check the fuses. My techs were trying to program my new key/fob and he wasn't getting any communications. Found a blown fuse.

I checked the fuse... It is OK

one thing you can try is to put a Brake Light Stoplamp Switch in, 84340-47020 that should be the OEM part number and then you could go look for the Part on Amazon, eBay, Nearby parts store. That's what was wrong with mine kept the lights on with the brake light switch was replaced in the lights went out.

Follow up to close thread

Dealer found that the OBD port pins were not connecting.
They repaired the pins---not sure if the pins were "pushed in"
and as such, were not making contact

Of course the dealer still charged me 700 for the yaw sensor R&R
even though I bet you dollars to donuts old one was fine.

NH just (last year?) made abs functionality a requirement for
inspection, so according to Toyota, the VSC system had to be operable

I've wanted to move to NH for a long time but the entire concept of a vehicle inspection just seems so wrong to me. FREEDOM!!

Did you authorize the yaw sensor replacement? Unless you gave them the go ahead you are 100% not responsible for that.

Most people don't realize that NH ("live free or die") is really strict on
all kinds of auto' inspections---stricter than MA, which has a reputation for being a nanny state. But at least in NH I can get cheap booze, fireworks and the firearm laws are more reasonable.

As for the yaw sensor---they told me the old one was bad,
so I OK'd the replacement. But I am pretty sure that the issue was
the OBD port.

My yaw sensor just went bad, it couldn't hold calibration. I just replaced mine for 30 bucks. I got a used one on ebay, and just got an alert the other day that the price dropped to 20. I'm really sorry man... its atrocious that the dealer charges that. But, I've seen as high as 1200 for that.
