Thanks for the tip and info. I have quite a few people in that area who have asked me for a good installer.

let me be clear, the Stage8 is a super premium setup, it is a torque it, lock it in with the retention piece and then snap in the c-clip and its a done deal, no re-torque As anyone in this position of needing this job done will learn that there are not many places that will not take the job on, as there are plenty of less challenging jobs out there. If you've read any of the install threads you know that it's a bear of a job, some of the fasteners are super difficult to get at, old bolts rust and seize, etc.
My mechanic Justin @ Strictly Subaru #860.208.6869 did an amazing job! Zero studs broken, the OEM mani-cats on both sides came out in one piece. The weld up of the new header-cats is beautiful. We took the truck to an exhaust specialty shop in Manchester Ct. (Pop's exhaust) to fab a new y-pipe (Justin doesn't have a pipe bender). Pop's was very honest in stating the the Toyota y-pipe is very high quality stainless and it was worth saving rather than try to fab a new one, as the OE Y-pipe would last longer than the one he could fab. so Pop's cut out a failing flange, welded in new flanges to that repair, then flanged up the cats Justin installed and buttoned it up.. I am STOKED, the truck sounds so Bad Ass now, as in Hot Rod Toyota Bad Ass!!

This sounds great! A couple of quick questions....

Did you reuse the existing headers or go with aftermarket?
Roughly how much did the install cost?
Any problems with the install throwing codes?
How long did it take to install the headers?

Much appreciate you posting your experience! I'm just south of boston and have been looking everywhere for a place willing to do the install... This might be just the ticket!

Bob, let me first say that Justin is an awesome dude, he's a great mechanic that will not sell you shit you don't need, and not gouge you on price. the job is BRUTAL, tell him what you want to have done, you don't want to do this job yourself, trust me it blows. I got the doug thorley headers, and 2.5" universal cats from Jason Burtman(awesome dude as well), also the Gibson stainless catback, two new OEM exhaust manifold gaskets, its probably a good idea to get fasteners for the headers in case they are shitty from corrosion. The y-pipe is the only thing we retained from the oem setup. and it was repaired and modified at Pop's exhaust here in Ct, because Justin doesn't have a pipe bender. my y-pipe had flanges that were moments from failure, but the pipe itself was sound, Nick at Pop's even stated that i should let him repair the stock y-pipe because being in the rust belt it would last better than an aluminized steel y-pipe that he could make with the bending gear he had.. you could go out and seek an aftermarket y-pipe and just bring all your new parts to Justin. also needed is two bung extenders
(2 of Blox Racing BXFL-00108 Check Engine Light Eliminator Adapter) because yes this install will have the truck throw a cel.
i have 3 cats in place, two new, welded to the headers, and the big sucker(OEM) at the backside of the y-pipe. the truck sounds so badass now, very v-8 hot rod sounding...I'd say call Justin his # 860.208.6869, tell him that you want the work done, then order up your parts from Jason Burtman.. I kept all the cats because it'll be a nightmare if not impossible to get it to pass emissions, some states do a visual, and you'll be screwed if they see you cut all the cats out, it still sounds amazing compared to stock...He had my truck for 4 days. once you hear it when its done, you won't be able to contain the big smile, it sounds so sweet. I can't really quote price for him, you've read around about the difficulty and cost of others that have had it done, trust he's totally in line and super fair.

I just ordered some DT headers from Jason, he was super helpful and went out of his way to get any info i requested when i called him. He says i should be looking at Friday ETA I'll keep you guys updated! I'm super pumped! I also got a URD Y-pipe on it's way.

I've been wanting to swap out my noisy exhaust manifold(s) for awhile now, but want to make sure I know what I'm getting myself (more so the mechanic that I need to find to do the work) into.

Do you really need the Check Engine Light Eliminator Adapters for this install? I thought with HFCs the setup is fine?

I have my DT headers and HFC arriving tomorrow. I just am ordering the Stage 8 fastner kit, 2x 2-bolt flanges, 2x exhaust gaskets and 2x OEM header gaskets. Right now I want to see how it sounds with the stock y-pipe but I will most likely replace that with the URD y-pipe. Is there anything else that is needed?

The way this is designed, it's the best you can get for the money, where as the Toyota headers are over double the cost and will crack again when around 100k miles.

Need favor. I few have installed 03-04 DT headers on their 05-09, and I can't seem to figure out who it was. A few guys did it, but I can't find the post....

The reason why people do this is because the 05-09 headers are $120 more, and you can remove the air injection. I'm trying to advise someone that's doing this install can't find who is was that installed 03-04 headers without air injection on their 05-09.

I mentioned a while back how these headers give 30 HP. It's actually 32HP gain/35 ft lbs of torque!!!, more than I thought! Some said no way, and I said they did and there was a dyno, but where-ever it was hosted the link was broken, etc. Another was done and I finally got it. This is on a STOCK TRUCK, stock cats, etc. With a Gibson exhaust, Volant Intake and high flow magnaflow cats (which I also have on sale right now) this truck would give A LOT MORE, probably 15+ more easy. The factory cats are so restrictive that mods like exhaust and intakes help on stock trucks, but no where near what a truck with DT headers would and can do.

BUT, even if you don't care about the power, the gain mpg gains, people have reported on here 2-3 mpg gains. Now, that's if you drive it like you did before the mods, which might be hard for some to do with it being crazy fast after.
