'05 4runner starting my first build taking suggestions!

Hey guys I am new to T4R.org and have recently decided that I want to upgrade my runner! Id like to take it off road some more, havent done much of it so far though, probably nothing extreme but wanna challenge the 4runner a bit! I put a 3" front and 2" rear leveling kit on it as well as some new tires, rims, headlights and tail lights, tires are nitto terra grapplers 285/75/17, rims are ballistic jester rims with the inserts hand painted the color of my 4runner, then black headlights and smoked tail lights. Anyways I have plans to black out/satoshi the grill, eventually... but I was wondering what suggestions you guys had for me to make it more trail ready. and of course look more BA!!! http://im.toyota-4runner.org/images/icons/icon6.gif

Welcome. First thing, lose the running boards and get a good set of sliders. You'll destroy those boards and possibly your rocker panels real quick on a moderate trail. Also, you're probably rubbing big time with those tires and wheels. You'll need to address that (cut or move fender liners/mud guards and chop the body mount) if you already haven't.

Nice looking runner! I would agree with the above post. Sliders are very important . I am still waiting on mine to get here. I would also get some skids.


I like your rims, they look really good with the color.

If you want a really nice set up icons IMHO are the way to go.

I like your truck! I also have an 05, but mine's a limited. Your headlights look super cool too, I want to get those when I need to replace mine.

A super easy mod that's well worth the small investment is the interior/exterior LED swap. I found the writeup on JA's page. It cost me about $100 (IIRC) to change all the bulbs out and the brightness is unparalleled. I would highly recommend doing this!
I also took a weatherproof LED strip, cut it into pieces, and wired a strip under the running board of each door. They turn on/off when the doors open/close. It illuminates the ground so you can see what's there before you step in it, plus it looks cool. If you off road alot, then it may get torn up....I never have with my truck, so I can't speak from experience.

First off Sick runner looks like what I hope mine will look like someday! your suspension looks really nice also the Icons look great and from what I hear are top notch quality! I agree with both you and dawg4runner the running boards need to go! never really payed much attention to them but after looking at others it the Rock sliders are a necessity plus taking the running boards off make it appear to sit higher! I would like to get a front bumper sometime but I feel like it isnt the first thing I need. Definitely on the wish list though!
