Edge, I'm with you. When I bought my Titanium 2004 Sport I didn't understand why my Sport looked more dressed up then the limited?? Since mine was Titanium the roof rails matched and then the sport wheels were fancier with the SR5 and Limited sharing the same wheels. Very strange!!! Now in 2005 they go with the black for the limited, just stupid. I guess I just don't see why anyone would pay more for the 2004 or 2005 limited? It made sense in 2003 since the trim was way different. Toyota is strange sometimes.
At least Im not alone: when the 03 1st came out asides from the unpainted side cladding that nobody liked the SR5 4Runners had their own 16inch wheels but within a short time all the SR5 started coming through with the 17inch Limited wheels.
I don' know what Toyota is doing but their are to many SR5 in my area that look like sleeper Limiteds and now the black does not help

I think I'm in the minority here, but I was actually looking forward to the black rails and steps on the Limited for certain colors -- black, for example.
I would agree, though. With the move to color-keyed cladding in late '03, plus with most SR5s coming with the 17" wheel option, there's not much that visually separates the SR5 from the Limited. For the '05 models, I think it comes down to the side mirrors (black vs. color-keyed); grill (chrome vs. color-keyed); the Limited's illuminated black steps; and door-badging, of course.
On the other hand, it makes my '05 Sport, with its silver bumper trim and rails and black steps, that much more distinctive from the other '05 models.

I agree with everyone here. Toyota should try to seperate their models more, especially the SR5 and Limited's. In my region, the way I tell the difference between the SR5 and Limited is the rear spoiler. SR5's do not come with the rear spoiler here. All SR5's come with 17'' Limited rims though. I like the look of the black roof rails and running boards on some colors (pacific blue, stratosphere mica, black) and dislike it on others ( white, silver, red).

I'm surprised so many of you say SR5's come with the 17" wheels. NONE of the ones sold over here have them, they're all 16's. I had to look for a set of the 17" wheels after I bought my truck since I liked them better.
I also have to wonder why Toyota decided to paint the bumper trim the same color as the car. I think the silver accents give it a more distinctive look.

That's the exact reason why I chose not to go with a Titanium Sport... The roof rack and center of the front and rear bumpers seem to disappear since they are all the same color....
Personally, I like the contrast on most of the other colors, especially on Galactic Gray.
Believe it or not, if the Titanium Sport came with a black roof rack and off-setting bumper inserts, I would have seriously considered it....

When I was shopping around for my 4Runner, I stopped there and they had about 35-40 4Runners on their lot. Every single one of the SR5 models had the package with the Limited wheels and the rear spoiler. The only way to tell them apart with a quick glance was the lettering on the side doors.
I guess not many people want a bare-bones SR5 around here....

Nothing wrong just a strange way to position you most expensive model
PS- I also thought it was weird that when I was shopping for mine that the bigger front brake rotors came on the sport and not the limited and that the Xreas shock system came standard on the sport and was a option on the limited. In 2004 it seemed like the only thing the limited gave you over the SE was leather seats, and that was a lot of extra $$$ for leather seats.

The sales team at Rockland Toyota is pathetic. They tried the high-pressure tactics on me, but I wasn't in a hurry to buy. My salesman tried very hard to close the deal on my first visit, despite the fact that I told him I wasn't going to commit during that first visit. He still wanted to hammer out a deal, so he kept making me better offers.
After an hour or so, he ended up offering me a very decent deal on a 4Runner on his lot that matched what I was looking for exactly.... I walked out the door without buying, but only so I could see what competing dealers would offer. It just seemed too easy to get the deal that Rockland was offering. I went to two other Toyota dealership, and nobody could match/beat Rockland's offer. Plus, the other dealers didn't have my color/options combination.
I went back to Rockland Toyota two days later to make the deal and when I got there, the deal was off the table. They made me an offer almost $1000 higher. WTF? I asked the sales manager why the deal is off the table and they told me it was a one-day offer only. I told them that I would buy the 4Runner on the spot for the same deal, but he declined. My salesman followed me out the front door like a lost puppy as I headed for my car.
I drove straight to Prestige to see if they had a Galactic Grey Sport on their lot. Sure enough, they had one coming off the truck as I pulled up. It had the exact options I wanted and I walked in and told the salesman I would buy it today if he could match Rockland's original price. At first he told me it wasn't possible, but he eventually agreed to it and I bought it that very day.
I will never return to Rockland Toytota again.

Silver is probably the easiest color to care for, and it does usually look clean. My last 6 vehicles were all silver and I don't regret it at all....
I also thought it was a bit strange that the Sport had the XREAS standard, as well as bigger brakes. Plus, the wheel design is much nicer on the Sport, in my opinion. I also like the aggressive look of the hood scoop (even if it is non-functional) on the Sport. Add it all up and the Sport was the only model I wanted.... I only wish leather and navigation was offered on the Sport. I already added the Toyota navigation system to my 4Runner, and I might add leather soon, but I'm still undecided.....

that was great, I pretty much went through the same thing with them, they did the deal and I was gonna buy a Black Limited with everything but NAV, all was cool and I came back the next day and they sold it, so I went to Prestige told them the dilly and the guy was like we can get you into a Limited with Nav for less then Rockland offered
came back the next day and picked it up.

I like the Limited, I was originally gonna buy an SR5 and turn it into a Limited but that would have gotten costly especially with new cladding and painting it, I've only really ever bought vehicles nicely equipped to loaded and they tend to stay that way, aftermarket sure I could add it but I really don't like it, I have not even tinted my windows cause I don't want them to mess up my truck and thats 1 reason I never got the SC, I just hate the idea of them messing up my truck, I went in for an alignment only to have all 4 wheels scratched, Im happy, I enjoy it and it puts a smile on my face so the Limited is worth it:

:EDGE, I can understand what your saying with the 2003, the Limited looked like the 2004 and all of the others had the cladding that was "different" to say the least. In 2003 I would of gotten a Limited. But in 2004/2005 they have changed to where you can't tell one model from the other from the outside.
