05 SR5 LED fog light test

Hi everybody, a few weeks back one of the sponsors of this forum @%1;reached out to me asking if I wanted to try out some their products. I agreed to install their fog lights in my truck under the condition I would review them and give you a honest review of how they performed. Trust me when I say, I have no intention of promoting a product if it doesn’t perform well. I would also like to say I am not being paid to say any of this.

I opted for the fog lights because as most of us know the stock 4th gen fog lights are kinda useless at night, so I was curious if LEDs would make a difference.

So here’s the results: The stock bulbs emitted roughly 300lumens and didn’t do much of anything in the fog this past week. The LEDs emitted just over 600lumens once installed and made a noticeable difference. The biggest thing for me was the peripheral range from side to side which improved with the LEDs. This is important because of ice still lingering on the road. I can’t speak to the longevity of the bulbs but as of now they met all my expectations. For the $35 price point this is a really decent product. I will note that if you do opt for LED fogs consider changing your headlight bulbs so a cooler color or LEDs. I recently did this so the headlight and fog lights match color wise. If not you get a noticeable white contrasted with the warmer halogen bulb.

I'm glad you like them because in the end, that's all that matters. As for me looking at your pics, I'd say that light pattern / distribution is pretty bad. What you want in a fog light is a nice, even, wide (horizontal) and tight (vertical) light distribution. What your pics shows is anything but that. Again, as long as you're happy.

BTW, the other thing you want in a true fog light is a lower color temperature with selective yellow being optimal. Going up in color temperature (more blue) is actually counterproductive as more light gets reflected back into your eyes.

For the light distribution, your referring to I would blame that on adjusting the bulb angle. During my installation, I removed both housings to clean them and threw my alignment off quite a bit. I defiantly noticed a wider spread of light than from the stock bulbs, so to me, that’s an improvement. My phone's camera may not have done that justice in the photo. The stock bulbs made almost no noticeable difference at night thus why I upgraded. The company does offer a 3000k yellow bulb but I opted for the 6500k white to match my other LEDs in color.

White LEDs do have a stronger color but that is simply something that comes with the territory and is a fair trade-off for more illumination.

I’m happy with the product's performance, and respectfully I have to disagree with your assessment. I do appreciate the feedback however, one of the things I love about this forum is the active members. I lurk more than I want to admit but I always find myself here looking for answers when I get into trouble. This is a great place with a great community.
