My windshield is cracked :( It has a crack from the compass sensor down to the bottom edge. I was up north yesterday and parked the vehicle in a friend

eeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWwwwww that sucks! Hopefully its covered under the warranty and Toyota is the only one who will make that call.

If they don't cover it, talk to your insuarance company to see if you have a windshield coverage. You may pay $0 out of pocket and since your truck is so new, you can get them to replace it with Toyota OEM glass.

The stock glass on mine was Temperlite and it was replaced by Lamiplane glass. Still Toyota stamped and Japan made.

Yep, on a brand new vehicle it should be under warranty. I'm going to give a call to Maple or Woodbridge Toyota tomorrow. Will see what they will say on this.

I think it is the manufacturer that Toyota goes through. If you notice, each window has Temperlite etched into it. On the windshield it is to the bottom left when sitting behind the steering wheel.

I believe Lamipane is just another company that manufacturers the glass for Toyota.

Come back from the dealership. They've been investigating my windshield by 5 people for 1 hour from service adviser to General Manager. First they've said that windshield is not covered under insurance, then that I have to prove that this wasn't stone or vandalism. Why should I prove it???
After a few hours of discussion they finally agreed to exchange it under warranty as a stress crack. So they ordered a new windshield. This might takes 3-5 business days.

Will the thicker 06 fit?

I have no idea. The serviceman told that it wouldn't, but I don't believe him. He said that for warranty I can change only with the exact same windshield, so I don't want to pay another $500 for the try.

Man, that sucks, but I will recommend the Pilkinton brand that's the best one the glass for some reason is thicker I have one pilkinton in my SR5 03 and I live in AZ, so you can imagine how it is with all the desert landscape in the freeways I have seen the rocks hitting my windshield and nothing happened.

I know someone who change windshields and he recommends that brand...

I was trying to force to put thick '06 windshield, but because I made them do it by warranty they said that they will order the windshield according VIN and I have know idea which one is it going to be. I'm sure about one thing, that I'll MAKE them change ONLY for the windshield with Toyota logo, no aftermarket!

that really weird that is happened. that wasn't a big temp difference. right now in anchorage i've been driving from my heated garage, upper 50s to low 60s into low digits (5 F yesterday) and have had no problems, and I even have repaired stone chips on my windshield. has anyone heard of this happening? i know glassware will stress and crack from hot to cold, but i never heard of a windshield doing that. glad that you were able to get toyota to repair it. i'm not sure a lot of dealers would've done that.

My dealer didn't want to do it. They said that I've done something to it, and now trying to get warranty on it. But I've talked to all senior managers there, plus my salesman knows me for more then 3 years (I've been buying two my last vehicles from him). So together we made it. Now it's a warranty.
