I saw that somebody had posted a website autopartsavenue.com that has the new style LED tail lights for 188$ a pair. I was wondering if anybody has actually bought them from there and is there any difference in the lights that you would buy from the stealership, other than the price. Usually when it sounds too good to be true, it is! But I really like the new style and I AM going to purchase some this week, any suggestions??

I bought the LED tail lights from autopartsavenue. They are awesome! No gap in the taillight and can't tell any difference from oem. They are a great buy! I wouldn't hesitate!

So they look the same as OEM, just as bright?? The only reason I ask is because like I said, when it sounds too good to be true it usually is... How is this website selling them for so much cheaper?

Truthfully i can't tell a difference between oem and these. They are definitely bright and i think its all about personal preference.

Not being an OEM Toyota part probably has something to do with it. It's probably made by Eagle Eye or some other Taiwanese manufacturer.

Correct! Eagle Eye is the manufactor. Im usually hesitant to buy non OEM parts but these aftermarket LED tails are awesome! They are made really well.:zoom:

Thanks for the reply, I just placed in order for them! Now can anybody point me in the direction of a write up on how to install these. I have never really done any DIY so this will be my first time, actually pretty excited!

Takes about an entire 20 minutes to complete.
1. Remove the square plastic pieces to access the back of the tail light.
2. Remove the two nuts that hold on the tail light ( one on top and one on bottom)
3. Remove the connector from the middle brake light by turning counter clockwise.
4. Remove brake light bulb by pulling bulb out of socket.
5. Remove the taillight by wiggling from the outside. May be a little tough but it will come out.
6. Swap turn signal bulb and reverse bulb by turning counter-clockwise.
7. Install new LED taillight.
8. Mount tail light and temporarily snug nuts.
9. Replace bulb socket with connector on back of LED brake light. ( just as if you were replacing the bulb but instead use the LED brake light connector ).
8. Snap connector back onto housing by turning clockwise.
9. Test!
10. Tighten nuts! Woo Hoo!

Just that easy. Let me know if you have any questions!

No, its not a bulb, it just a connector which plugs in where the old brake light bulb pluged into. Just replace the bulb with the connector that runs the LED brake lights. The connector comes with the LED taillight. Basically all it is 2 wires that run into the taillight to run the LED lights with a connector to receive the signal. Just that easy.

Anybody have pics ?

lol, you guys and the pics! As I stated they are identical looking and functioning (DOT and SAE compliant). The website has an accurate pic, or look at ANY 06 or newer and you can see them. These are OEM quality, can't tell the difference. Do you think Toyota manufactures all their own lights? Think about it....... As for the install, two nuts hold them in each side, then they come off. From there it's a matter of switching the bulbs, and plugging the connector in and putting it in just like the bulb it replaces. Not to be cliche`, but it is as easy as, well, changing a light bulb (or a few). If you can't do this one, you need to turn in your man card! Should work on 03-04 fine by the way.

It sounds too good to be true because the OEM from Toyota parts is so high! $200 for tailights is actually a fair price, not too low IMO. I replaced a whole left assembly in my BMW for $160 OEM! Toyota parts are high on replacement light and lenses.

I plan to do this mod eventually... just one question that i havent seen an answer to...

do you get a taillight warning message in the cluster? I would assume not, due to the connectors all getting used. then again, I got one in my old SC300 when i swapped in newer tails.

thanks in advance.
