06-09 v6 supercharged

What do you want to know about the URD kit? BTW you'll want to you the FJ fit kit thats all you need if you wanna run TRD roots charger.
 
The blurb on URD's website states the '03-'09 4Runner kit is almost ready for production. I think that's the prime question -- when. I can say right now the naturally aspirated route isn't cutting it for me. I'd like it to be as quick or quicker than my Tundra.
 
As said its been out for some time. The reason no one can buy a URD kit right now is that there is no APR X1 units to tune the trucks. The APR is the brains of the URD Rotrex kit and without the truck will run like crap. I'm sure you could use a map2ecu to tune it but you options would be limit compared to the X1. other than that forced induction is a no brainer be it a supercharger or a turbo its just fab and mounting work. Its the tuning that brings out most of the power.

So I take it delveloping and tuning forced-induction systems is what you do for a living? Do you work at URD? You make it seem like child's play.

Are you saying there's an error on URD's site? That it's not an intercooler fitment issue but calibration issue?
 
I don't work for URD but that would be fun. I learned most of my tuning stuff from APR and URD. Although it helps alot that APR is in my backyard. Right now I'm just an engineering student. Anyway, whats different is the radiator support. it's designed differently than the tacoma and FJ. As of right now it a supply issue not just for URD but for everyone that supplied the X1 as there tuning unit for the 1grfe. Right now the only way to get the X1 is from a truck parting out.
 
I can confidently say that designing and installing a forced-induction system is no "no-brainer". Sure, conceptually, it's a no-brainer.

But remember, for a top-quality, daily-driven, O.E.-style system, there must be no unnecessary squeeling, rattling, vibration, overheating, parts melting, parts rubbing against one another -- causing air and fluid leaks, hard-starting or gauge cluster warning lights on.

It has to start and run well from -25C to +35C, at sea level, at 1,500 metres and all accesories need to function and function well. The intake needs to withstand driving rain, driving snow, fording water, mud and dust (especially for 4x4s) at least as well as the O.E. intake.

Many people (I included) knew at least one person who slapped a K-car turbocharger, a Saab intercooler and FMU on his or her Accent or D-series Honda with sagging doors but they were broke more than they were driving. A few got it right but most didn`t.

Are there superchargers for the V8? I'm looking into a Lexus GX wanted to know if I could supercharge it?

URD is doing the 2005+ Tundra V8 right now.

Next will be the V8 4Runner and I hope that should fit the GX470 as well.

If you are near the DC area it would speed things up if you could give us your vehicle for a couple of weeks.

What exhaust did you use with the Stage I kit?
 
Gadget can make more power but he wanted the 4th gen to be quite. Gadget reports that the urd super charger for the 4runner mirrors the taco kit nicely (it should same motor) but the other mods I think Gadget has done is a valve body upgrade and the fuel pump upgrade. I would love to upgrade my trans both the torque converter and the valve body but I don't have the cash or down time to do that right now. Stage 2 should put down 400+ @ the wheels

You must be Gadget's publicist. Just having to change the exhaust cam sprockets doesn't gloss over the fact that the kit requires tearing into the engine. How long did it take you to swap out your exhaust cam sprockets? You did it in your garage at home? It went smoothly? What would you do different if you had to do it again?
 
pssh, I wish. Anyway it not that bad honestly I went to the APR shop as its IN san antonio which is superbadass and so I can get cutsom tuning. The X1is what the URD kits use for tuning so the cam gears and thermostat are gonna need to be changed out for the X1 components.
