You also could have just scraped off the old tape and just used clear silicone caulk. I’ve done this many times for loose emblems and badges and they never fall off again, plus it’s easier to cut loose if you actually need/want to remove them later. I only use the 3m tape for stuff like side body moldings and heavier things. Silicone would work for those as well, but would need to be taped in place to hold it in position while drying, and I usually don’t have the patience for that, so I just use the tape for a quicker repair.

I wonder if there is a way to do this on a '03-'05 grill.

i had that grill before and think I was the first to do the satoshi grill. but didn't like that and switched to an 06. the problem with that grill is when you cut out the top bar there isn't much material left on the side that bolts to the body that made it durable and not crack. if you don't mind it protruding and lay it on top you probably could get it done that way.

Excellent call! I should’ve mentioned that for anyone that didn’t know, but yeah, it really screws up paint if you try to paint over an area with silicone. In that case, I generally leave the emblem(s) off until the paint is done, then glue them on after. I also try to apply it carefully enough to not ooze out when attaching the part so I don’t have to deal with cleaning around it. Silicone can be a pain to get off. My favorite part about it though is that even though it’s super secure as a glue, it can be removed later without breaking the part if you need to take it back off for some reason. That is why I use it for attaching countertops and bathroom vanity tops, especially granite.

Definitely need a how-to. I’m considering swapping out the satoshi grill and going back to color matched stock grill. This definitely looks better than stock and satoshi.

Really like this look. I was considering a satoshi but I might bite on this. Seems like it will require some fiberglass build but I can handle that.

Definitely interested in getting my hands on one of these and doing it.
