06' help

Hello all, Looking at buying a 06' 4 runner. But, I have some questions.
1) Navigation, How well does it work?

2)Does it leave "Bread Crumbs" tail when you go off the beat'n path? So, you can find your way to your way back to the road or base camp.

3) Can you hook up an Ipod to it?
a) Thru 1/8" TRS headphone jack
b) Is there an adpt. so you can sroll thru playlist via the screen?

4) How well does the xreas work? do you think it's something I would want to have.

Is there anything else I need to look out for.

Does anybody know a dealer in the SO. Cal area that might have an 06' LE with Nav in Stock?

Thanks

The Xreas is a definite must have i should say, it helps lower body roll on cornering and keeps the 4runner very stable. As for the Nav since i have an after market system i can't answer those for ya, but i'm sure the other members with Nav will give you an answer soon.

Get the Xreas, and i'm sure most of the members would recommend it. Although depending if you would be lifting your 4runner for off roading or not, the Xreas will be a problem in that case. Overall, i would get it no matter what.

Welcome to T4R.org.

1) I have nav on my '04 Camry which I believe is a 3rd generation nav and I think the '06 4Runner, nav is a 4th generation nav. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The navigation system works great, routes much faster and more accurate than the Honda units (1999-2003, the ones that look the same as the Odyssey, MDX, Acura '99-03 TL and '01-03 CL). Not to mention the color and graphics of the Toyota nav's look superior to that of the Honda one. My uncle has a '02 Odyssey and when we were on the freeway, 4 lane in each direction with an ajacent road that ran parallel on the other side of the freeway (oncoming traffic), we made a lane change from the 4th lane (far most right) to the 2nd lane, the nav jumped from the freeway to the ajacent road and showed that we were traveling on the two lane road next to freeway, which is about 6 lanes (including oncoming traffic) away from where we are. Two other times, we were driving near the a lake and the nav all of a sudden showed we were in the water, another off the main road and into the grass.

2) Don't know about bread crumbs, since my Camry can't go off-road. But you can mark a certain spot and route to that spot later.

3) Yes.
3a) Yes. All '06 4Runners have an auxilary input for audio through a mini headset jack in the center console, regardless of audio system (standard, JBL or nav).
3b) No, the audio sytems cannot interface with the iPod stock from the factory. I think BMW is only carmarker with this option. You would need an aftermarket kit to do so on a Toyota. Check out VAIS SLI

4) Can't answer this one, don't have my 4R yet and it's not a widely available option on the Limited in my region. :(

I can't answer your NAV questions because I don't have it.

3a) Yes
3b) No, I think there is an aftermarket add-on that lets you control it, not sure about scrolling a playlist though. I'm not all that sure, but I remember seeing it somewhere.

4) I've never driven an XREAS equipped 4Runner, but from what the other members here say, it's a good option. But, here in So Cal, it's going to be tough finidng a Limited with XREAS. Toyota doesn't send many of those here, so if you want a Limited with XREAS, you'll probably need to order it.

Carson Toyota has 2 LE with NAV in stock, but they're presold. Longo has 3 V8 2WD, and 2 V6 2WD's with NAV shown on their website.
