'06 JBL 10 Speaker system in an '05 Sport 4Runner

I just couldn't live without MP3 capability in my beloved '05 4 Runner (with 10 spkr JBL Synthesis), so i managed to get ahold of an '06 JBL radio with the MP3/WMA capability.

...I thought it would be a straight swap since the connectors are identical, and both are double DIN, but looking at the new radio it looks like the shell is slighly different in shape. The old one has round corners on the bottom and the top both. the '06 is round on the top corners and squared on the bottom.

Before I start taking the car around looking for an install, am I screwed, or can this swap be done? I paid $300 for the new radio and I'd hate to think that was a waste.

Do a search. I'm positive another member did the same swap and he had to do a small modification to get it to fit better.

Any help with the search engine? it won;t let me search 05 and 06, and it doesn't come up with anything useful using "swap stereo jbl mp3 2005 2006, etc."

Thanks a million Sharp4runner. I was hoping for exactly this since the bezels look different, and I was worried I wasted the $$$ on this 06 unit.

It is the only thing I missed from my old van when going to the 4runner (mp3 capability). It just makes sense to have discs containing 10 albums each...otherwise I get caught inb a 5 CD cycle that makes me into a repetitive zombie! I'll post some pics when i get mine done.
