06 Runner Beeping While Driving/Brake Issue

Hello, I had a small problem today on a road trip and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem

On my way from Birmingham to Panama City today, my 06 v8 limited 4runner started beeping from the dash area. I immidiately started to depress the brake pedal and noticed that my brakes felt extremely different, the kind of different you would feel if you pressed the brakes while the car was off. A few seconds later everything was fine. This occured on a perfectly straight and level road.

Just trying to get some insight on this for the drive back. Thanks for any replies/reassurance in advance.

Sounds like the pump isn't running. If you pump the brakes you will hear a very high pitched sound. Listen closely when for first turn the ignition on, don't start it just put it on battery (on position) and listen closely and see I the pump is running. Or you have air in the system/ broken/ cracked brake line hoses.
