06' Sport Edition vs. Limited

I actually put a deposit down for an 06' SE V8 4x4 which a few days later the dealer called saying it was a demo model with high miles so now they are offering me a Limited for $1.5K more. My question is that the main items missing which I really do like is the hood scoop, XREAS, and smoked grill. Does XREAS make the ride stiffer than those vehicle that are not equipped with it?
And is the Sport Edition hood scoop and smoked grill available for purchase and installation on a Limited model?

The Xreas does make the ride just a little stiffer, and it keeps the body roll down during turns. Its a great system, but failure after warranty can go deep into your pocket since they whole system is linked together. Its up to you to decide upon this.

Since its a o6, i'm not too familiar with anyone switching out the limited hood to the sport, but i believe another member "Koz" had purchased and installed a sport hood onto his 05 limited. But i'm sure it can be done, since there's no difference in size or anything.

X-REAS is available as an option on the Limited. On the V8, you can get just X-REAS or X-REAS with rear air suspension. You can probably swap the body color grille with another member for a smoke chrome one or maybe post in the classified that you're interested in buying one. Here's a thread where some members swapped from the smoked chrome to the body color. You might try and get in touch with them to see if they're selling it.

You can buy the grille and scooped hood as collision replacement parts from Toyota. But they're not available as options for the Limited trim.

The XREAS really keeps the vehicle from plowing/leaning on the highway in turns. As far as having to replace the system after it is dead, it is just like a regular shock change. You can replace the system with very good aftermarket shocks, no problem. I'm sure someone would very happily trade for your color matched grill, they may even pay for your shipping costs. Now the hood scoop is a different story. No one will trade and it would cost approx $1000 to install one. I know, I did it.

I had an 04 Limited that I just traded in for an 06 Sport and I like the Sport much better. Like you, I wanted the hood scoop and the smoked chrome grill. I also really liked the tube steps and roof rack as well.

As for the XREAS, I had it in my other Runner and wouldn't get one without it. Personally, I don't think the ride is any stiffer at all, but the body roll is definitely reduced. With how hot it is in Florida, I didn't want leather either, and I really like the look of the cloth in the 06.

You know that the 'hood scoop' is simply a styling element and is non-functional.

As for XREAS, you should probably drive one with and one without before you decide. I'm pretty impressed with how little roll there is to the 06 with the standard shocks.

there are certainly reasons for people to like or no to like the hood scoop.

I found that the hood scoop was not a good enough reason to purchase a Sport over the Limited. The Limited offers way too much more then the Sport (for me), plus you could add it later if it means that much to you. I had to have Nav and rear air suspension and other options.
