So I found a dealership that will replace the timing belt on my 07 v8 for $370 including parts and labor. I asked how much more to also replace the water pump. They said an additional $800. I laughed.
But I just want to confirm first that $800 for the water pump is outrageous especially if the timing belt will already be removed. And second, how often does the water pump go out on these trucks? Should it be okay if I don't replace it now?
If I can get them to replace the water pump, what would be a reasonable price? It looks like I could get the part for around $120. Do y'all think $600 for timing belt and water pump replacement would be a good price?
