'07 with Billstein 5100s. Not sure where to go from here (lift)

I have an '07 that I decided to keep after a brief love affair with a 5th gen.

It has Billstein 5100s on their second to highest setting (front). Rear has 5100s also with a 1" spacer lift.

I currently have 31.5" A/Ts on it that rub.

I'd like to fit 33's. Can I keep the 5100s and add taller springs front and rear to do this? I wasnt sure if that would overextend the shock.

I bought the Toytec/Bilstein 5100 lift kit for my 2004 4Runner, so I have a 3” lift in the front and 2” in the rear. I never had just the shocks. I also have a Toytec 1” body lift. I am able to run 33” tires without any rubbing (Toyo Open Country AT2 255/80r17 on stock 5th gen 17x7.5” rims). I did have to do some minor cutting/trimming, but no BMC (yet). I also have 1.25” wheel spacers. With the Toytec front springs, the front shocks are at the lowest setting.

The 5100s are designed for lifted applications, so you shouldn’t have an issue with overextending the shocks. The 4600s are designed for stock height.

You should be able to adjust the SPC uca so that you won't rub or hit body mount. But if you go off roading, I bet it'll hit.

Thank you. If I do the body lift will wheel spacers still be required or will the correct offset aftermarket wheel be enough?

I have OME 887 front springs and Toytec Superflex rear springs on 5100s. Stock UCAs (alignment went fine), and 5th gen TRD OR wheels on 285/70/17 tires. Nothing rubs and the UCAs clear fine through the full suspension travel. Any offset between zero and +15 should be fine (my wheels are +15). Front fender liners needed a little massaging with a heatgun and the factory XREA lines removed (doing that anyway with new suspension).

If you do all that then get a better shock setup than 5100's. 5100's are a tiny shock, 46mm vs 65mm with Toytec Boss. Get the stronger shock, buy once cry once.

I think buying a coilover shock might be best (I'm wishing I had after awhile), but I have the same setup as you and just put on 33" tires. I kept my 5100 shocks but added the 3" Toytec spring, and put my 5100s on the third notch. Admittedly, it isn't as cushy as the bottom notch on the shock, but it's still comfortable, and looks great. I had to body chop and trim the wheel well, but I have no spacers and no body lift.

Sunk cost fallacy but I have less than 5k miles on the 5100s =|. I'll run them for a year a few years, and will probably wear them out quickly with the way I've been wheeling lately.

Keep in mind that .5" spacer will give you closer to an inch of lift in the front. So you'll be at 4" if the springs are rated a 3".
