08 T4R lack of cup holders serious problem

Dude seriously, I know you mean it in a good way, but save the advice. The iPad as a navigation device is 5x better than a regular nav unit. Pre-loading routes, looking up business along your route, near your destination, stack ordering your stops, the GPS apps on the iPad does it all much better. I have had Garmins and I have had iPads and not going back.

Unless you mount your nav unit in front of your face, you have to take your eyes off to see and process the information anyway. iPad is no more risky.

I think you have been drinking too much apple cider. Apple maps are horrible. My AVIC is 1000 times better and I can still use my cup holders and I don't have to look down at my feet to see it. There is a huge difference between glancing down to the dash than looking almost straight down.

You know I didn't like fact that Delaware outlawed electronic devices in vehicles (except windshield mounted or in dash GPS') but I really don't want to be in front of you while you are looking for which way to turn. Wow a law that just now makes sense. Paper maps are not as cool but there's no hard feelings when someone spills their drinks.

It feels like I am on an Internet forum with my parents. The other day some well meaning guy was chastising me for taking photos of the storm. Now I got 5 guys jumping on me for wanting a navigation solution in my car. Geezus Christ! My question was very specific: about cup holders. Though I didn't solicit any advice about my mental or physical well being, anyone care to weigh in on global warming, dalai lama, Hinduism, etc.?

You guys are putting words in my mouth. I never said anything about apple maps. I use motion X or navigon, both of which are excellent. Anyway, I am going to go brush my teeth before bed now,

seriously though hit up a junkyard or eBay, find one of those OEM slide out cuholders and give it a try. I hate those dash pockets too.

You put down the 4Runner for not having enough cup holders, claiming a "serious problem" in the title of the post, then post a picture of your vehicle with an iPad mounted over the front cup holders, claiming it's your only solution to in-car navigation.

What did you expect??

The iPad is not the only, or anywhere near the best, solution for in-car navigation. Quite a few of us have given suggestions, such as using your smart phone, or buying an in-dash unit. AKA get rid of the iPad and pony up for a solution.

And the Apple Maps comments were made in jest. That app is a joke...
