1" daystar alignment ?

Hello,

I have searched and i'm getting mixed messages. Daystar recommends to have alignment checked in their install instructions but its not mandatory after only 1 inch strut spacer ?

Is there anyone here who is running leveling 1 inch front kit w/o alignment long term. No uneven tire wear ?

I also have 1,25'' wheel spacers on the truck.

Thank you.

Anytime you change your ride height more than 1/4" I would get an alignment.

(Even at 1/4" I would consider it but I doubt 1/4" is a enough to make a dramatic difference as long as you rotate your tires regularly)

I agree, that's a recommendation but I want to know if someone got away safely without doing an alignment with Daystar BB kit.

For example, lots of vehicles that have "driver" adjustable ride height don't wear out tires prematurely or unevenly and when alignment is being done the hight is adjusted to default hight settings. That's why I'm curious on our particular setup, if it's actually will make camber much worse.

treat it as a guideline since

specific lift amounts can be different since the amount of suspension ware/sag differs from truck to truck. By increasing the length of the strut your changing the suspensions geometry and that can impact the alignment caster as a result. You can always have it checked and either commit or not commit to an alignment if its out of alignment.

Always budget for a proper alignment when tinkering with suspension.

Most shops offer a free alignment check as a way to get you in the door anyways. Hit one of them up if you have doubts.

I just installed this lift a few weeks ago. Truck drove great before. After, the steering wheel was a little wonky and steering was more twitchy. Took for an alignment, LCA cam was frozen, so they could only get 1.4 degrees caster, which means before the lift I was probably at about 2 degrees caster, which is still below spec. Replaced the LCA, touched up the alignment to 4.1 degrees caster, and it's never driven as smoothly as it does now.
Even if you can get away with leveling and not aligning, a good alignment is a cheap investment in an expensive asset, and will greatly affect ride quality and tire wear, so just get it done.

Since you did a front spacer lift, I suggest you get an alignment. It's only $60~80 depending where you get your alignment from, for piece of mind.

If it was a rear spacer lift, I wouldn't worry about it as much.

Benztech,
I have an '08 UrbanRunner and am looking at getting the same setup as you: 1.25" wheel spacer and a 1" front spacer lift. Did you go up a tire size? How's the rubbing?

Sorry, I just realized you were asking me a question. Rubbing is very minor, occurs only during full lock turn or under hard turn turn when truck is leaning. Oh and I didn't do alignment. After 5k with BB boost no uneven tire wear. Original tire size 2656517 Sorry about late reply again.

Not to thread jack here, but I have a 1” rear Cornfed spacer I’ve been meaning to install. My alignment after the Bilsteins and Moog spring was perfect. Can I get away without spending again for alignment?

Yup, rear spacer doesn’t affect alignment at all (with the exception of caster). Caster might go down half a degree, but if you already had the caster cranked with your last alignment (As you should have asked for) you will likely not notice.

In theory, with every change to suspension geometry alignment is recommended. I took a chance because my lca are most likely seized and I will have to spend more for alignment because of new lca's.

So it's up to you but I wouldn't worry about 1" at the rear.
