Wow, a link this time!!! That's an improvement!
Your "prediction" is still ways off from the leader(s), Koz. One month. We will see at the end of the year. So far, toyota Tundra is still far behind the leaders. GMC (more luxurious brand of Chevy) only accounts for a fraction of GM's truck sales...their bread-n-butter is it's twin, Chevy Silverado. It's nice that Toyota Tundra beat GMC in July 2007, but that's not THAT big of a deal. See article below for more info.

The Ford F-Series continues to be the top selling car in the nation with a total of 411,926 units sold. The Chevrolet Silverado came in second with 357,893 units followed by the Toyota Camry with 282,044.

It not going to happen overnight and being so new and having that good of sales shows where its hopefully going in the future give it a couple years and if the come out with a 3/4 and a 1 ton it will blow the other ones out of the water and throw a diesel in there at some point ....... look out !!
Thats nice to see. These trucks are really growing on me . Especially the Max cab short box. I saw one the other day in a color I never saw before like a metallic platinum ( maybe just the lighting ) man it looked sweet. I would like to see them be 2 or 3 inches higher though...
I stopped by a place across the hiway about renting a skid steer or front end loader. I noticed the owner replaced one of his trucks with a new Tundra. He pulls his loaders daily , everyday and all over the tri state area , never see him without one on a huge trailer , since that is his business. He already has 35k in it....holy crap !!! I asked him how the Tundra was working out for him, he said sweet , never had an issue , and it pulls awesome. He pulls some heavy stuff all day long.
They will get there , beating the GMC is not a overly hard task but a damn good one considering how new this truck is ..... gaining a lot of ground. If its doing this good this early , that says a lot.

I always feel like I should wear a referee outfit when Koz and Thai have coments in the same post. Is it just me?
I completely agree, Toyota needs to get in the diesal heavy duty trucks to really have a chance at number one in the truck market. That and raise that four star rating to a five star with NHTSA. Although, Ford is tring hard to recover ground and their reliability... time will only tell. I have owned Ford trucks and still have a F-350 and a F-150, but now I feel once bitten, twice shy.

The 3/4 - 1 ton market is small compared to the 1/2 ton and is not going to make that much of a difference. Regardless, Toyota will be introducing HD diesel trucks soon.

We all have our differences. It's like having two viewpoints on a topic...glass half full or glass half empty.
I just have a more pessimistic approach to things (aka half empty).

Although I do not agree with a statement CR makes about the towing ability on the Tundra compared to the HD trucks. "At 10,300 pounds, towing capacity rivals that of even heavy-duty diesel trucks we tested." While the capacity may be close you cannot bet a diesel when it comes to serious towing. I learned with my F-250 gas engine that when doing serious hauling your mileage goes down the toilet. With my F-350 mileage only changes when hauling in mountainous area such as Fancy Gap in West Virginia and then it's only about two miles less a gallon where a gas engine is goes down about half your usual mileage.
