I have seen the amazing dyno pull before , but that quarter mile shot takes my breath away... I have always liked Grand Nationals... I might own one someday!

Yum me too, I had the chance to buy a GNX at one time and still kick myself for not jumping on it.


My wife thinks they are ugly, as I stare and drool at them going down the road.

Yea I had the chance to buy my friends GNX (#460) but felt too weird since he has just passed away.

I owned two different Grand Nationals though.... both 87s. The first was the quick one running mid 11s and the second moved (12.7) but was MINT.

Awesome car... I will own another someday.

Does not do a thing for me.

I remember them when they first came out. Fastest 1/4 mile out of the box stock and block.....but could not corner, could not stop, not much on the top end, and had no balance. It could just do one thing and that was go from one stop light to another.

Good point but I still think for a Buick it was a cool car...

The first time I was at Maple Grove Speedway (1/4 mi track) I saw a Grand National and he was lined up against a 1970 Boss. I was laughing inside and trying to think what that poor guy in the Buick was thinking as he sat beside that beefy muscle car. There was no handicap on the race because it was the 1st for both cars.

My jaw just dropped when I saw that GN launch! And the sound of it! Wholy crap! That sounded like NO Buick I've ever seen. He beat the boss by a whole second. I was amazed. Up until then I had no idea what a Grand National was, so I was really impressed.

Factory turbo cars are cool and easy to make ponies and especially in the Toyota Supra's case;my friend's '94 laid down about 287whp stock and with just a full 3" exhaust,filter and a manual boost controller ripped off 437whp (that's pretty close to 500 crankhorse) for a total of $1100 invested.
He added a set of drag radials and ran mid 12s up here at 5800ft asl.
