*** 10AC's Speed Build Thread ***

Don't feel so bad man, I miss my old truck every now and then. That old sport trac...man the other day I tried to put my key into the steering wheel where the ignition used to be on my old truck...no projects are ever truly done untill the day it won't move anymore, or you sell it to some jackass that doesn't know how to finish one.

This 4Runner is cleaner in person, especially the engine bay, it's incredible.

Thanks for the rims 10ac! Hope to see you on a trail run soon.

rack and pinion guide update

i just did the rack and pinion update. ordered all parts from camelback toyota and it was very easy to do and definitely fixed my problem of mild shimmy at 60-70mph! the package thats orange is a coupling nut from home depot to use as a hex driver to install the new cap. it was 2 bucks with tax set. and i used a 24mm socket to hold it and torqued to 18ft lbs and backed off about 19 degrees and checked the steering with both wheels off the ground and no tires on and jack stands on the lower control arms so i could be sure if it had too much drag on it. it turned out great the first time.

lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, all OEM toyota Parts

i did replaced my lower ball joints new and inner and outer ties rods. i did this job mainly because when hitting a bump in the road, i felt a little thunk or pop through the floor from the drivers side. bothered me so i thought well ill start with this and sure nough, it fixed the issue. still had the oem original parts on it. was time anyways. i did count threads on the outer tie rods to assemble back to be sure my alignment wouldn't be too far off to be able to drive it to an alignment shop. i also was sure to put anti seize on the shaft threads of the outer tie rods so they would be easy to adjust if needed in the future. all parts were purchased from camelback toyota. didn't get to get many pics of this job, my hands were greasy and i was on a roll with no time to stop! lol.

NOTE: outcome...fixed the thunk or popping sound. must have had a bad inner tie rod. its was very loose and had play. i recommend this to anyone thats never done this and they have high milage. also do not cheap out! oem toyota is the way to go with these parts. you don't want these parts to fail/ break etc.

borrowed pic but this is how i removed mine. all together

worked on my suspension also. noticed that the front riverside was lower on one side. i had my coil overs set exact to thread count and measured as well. guess this is common for driver side to be lower because of weight maybe. i didn't want to adjust the coil over to compensate or the rebound could be different so i purchased a toytec top plate spacer to fix this as well as a OME rear coil spacer for the rear because it does the same on the fuel tank side.

outcome: fixed the height problem. spacers on toytec were fairly cheap.
