Update on Service Experience.
I validated via the website that an appointment is not required. I confirmed with salesperson who stated I did not need an appointment. I called the service department who said, “One is recommended, but not required.” I stopped by on my way home and “popped in” and… much to my amazement… appointments are not needed!
I asked to make the programming adjustments (locks, windows, etc.). They were happy to do so. However, dealer would not turn off seat belt chimes referencing a “State Law” that he could not cite. When pushed he said, “Dealer Policy is not to change safety settings” (well then… I will go to another dealer).
I was then told that the service would take “less than an hour”… checked in at 1 hr 15 minutes… 1 hr 30 minutes… 1 hr. 45 minutes… finally left after 2 hours. I told them that service like this (including being turned away the weekend before) will drive customers away. Now the service rep started to “2-step”…
…. “we only service via appointments on Saturday because it is busy”… oh… so you waste customers time by misleading them on your website… misinforming your sales staff and having an ill-informed service staff who tell you appointments are not necessary… then you turn your customers away when they show up?
cynical / sarcastic :thanks:
…. “it sometimes takes longer because we re-torque the propeller shaft”…. oh… are you telling me that sometimes you don’t re-torque the drive shaft despite it being a part of the paid service? Or, are you telling me that once you get it up on the lift it takes you an additional 60+ minutes to re-torque the drive shaft?
:redbrick:
I value my weekend time at twice my weekday hourly rate. This service took 2.5 hours including travel time. I think I will use my next coupon at a different dealer for a different experience, not necessarily better. Then I will go back to doing my own servicing.

Rant over.
