120k mi on 1 timing belt, bad idea?

um...i thought the 4th gens had a timing chain not belt? was i mis-lead? if its a chain it does not need replacing..belt i would replace it. my friend has his bust on an audi and it caused a LOT of damage and cost a lot of $$$$

That is alot of miles for an '04. Then again my 99 ltd has only 95k.

The lack of a new chain is not necessarily a bad thing. Just factor it into the purchase cost. The belt change is a few hundred dollars. Do the water pump at the same time if you pull the trigger.

I paid $50 for my programmed Key. All I had was one key, and I didn't even have the master code that comes with the original set of keys. So, I took it to the dealership, and they were supposed to charge me $250, but lucky for me I knew some people. I walked out paying $50, which I think is their minimum cost. The service manager told me straight up that the computers used to program the keys cost around $10,000. Anything more than $50 is pure profit used to help with their expenses.
