-15 offset??

I was looking at getting a set of Mickey Thompson classic 2s and noticed that they come in 17x9 with a -12 offset and a 17x9 with a -15 offset. Most people I've noticed are running -12, but has anyone tried the -15 or is that asking fir more problems? Wouldn't the wheel just sit out further? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

On that wheel, 5" is going to be the centerline. So a -12mm offset is going to put you at about 4.6" backspacing. And a -15 is going to put you at about 4.4" backspacing. At the end of the day, it's not a big change at all.

Keep in mind that if you're using these on a 4th gen with less than 3" of lift you're going to rub like crazy and tear up things. Those 9" wide wheels are a whole lot of wheel and to make the tires wear and look properly you're going to want at least 9" of tread width which puts you into a 285 or larger series tire.

Thank you so much for the information! I have a 3inch lift on my truck now and wanted to go to a 285/70/17. Would it be a better idea to go with a wheel that is less than 9? Maybe 8?

In my opinion yes it would be better. Many will disagree with me. But a 9" wheel is going to stretch out the tires...even a 285/70...because there is less tread width than wheel width. Just my opinion, but I always look for wheels around 8" wide.
