Is that you?

At any rate, that is impressive. Back when I was into weightlifting, my best personal Bench, without anyone else touching the bar, and pausing at the bottom, was 405 lbs.

But I weighed about 90 lbs more than the guy in the video. I was also 6'2" with longer arms.

Thats impressive. I have been lifting for 15 years religiously, most I have ever benched was 405 for a couple reps years ago, long arms dont help, I was 6'0 230 pounds at the time though. As you get older you realize you dont need to throw up heavy weight all the time to achieve a look, unless your of course your goal is to get strong as hell, then singles and doubles with max weight is your itinerary. My shoulders are all shot to shit now because of being dumb when I was younger. a good friend of mine is a pro bencher, he did a 487 raw bench at 165 pounds, and 705 with a shirt.

I saw that video a few months back and changed up my bench slightly as a result. No idea whether or not it's really helping but I've been adding sets where I stop the bar on my chest and just push it up like the guy in the video does.

Yeah man pause reps help significantly!

I love lifting or anything active for that matter. I've been practicing power lifting movements. My squat and deadlift numbers are better than my bench, but I hope to bench as strong as that guy one day.

What kind of lifting are you guys into?

Had to step away for a moment to figure out what ILIR meant by "wearing a shirt". Holy crapola, I remember when Ted Arcidi and then Anthony Clark were benching over 700 lbs and people thought that was the equivalent of running a 4 minute mile while climbing Everest, I had no idea the record had gone so high since then.
As for me, I used to be a weightlifter but I let a serious motorcycle accident be my excuse for getting out of shape. Now here I am at age 42 wearing pants far too large for me, so its time to wrap up the crooked knee and get strong again.

A few of my friends had some serious injuries, from lifting heavy. That's ultimately what convinced me that risking serious injury for what is essentially bragging rights, wasn't worth it to me.

These days I just stick to pushups, and other exercises with moderate weights.

I think I've seen another video of the same person before and apparently the bench press is literally the only thing he does. The strange part is what's mentioned in the top comment, he really doesn't have that big of a chest for someone benching 400+ lbs. Granted its impressive but you would think even a few weeks of benching weight like that you would start putting more muscle on your frame.

Edit: I just noticed that might be you. Hat's off man it really is impressive its just crazy that it hasn't forced your body to adapt to it.
